Your first thought may be to reply that black people are disproportionately impoverished. Obviously they are, I'm not arguing that. But that is not what I'm asking. Re-read what I wrote above again and let me know what you find.

AndrewGravesSVI provided a link full of sourced data that links violent crime to poverty and also shows how economic assistance lessens violent crime. I did this to substantiate a guess I had and even said the link isn't as established as I previously thought. It's true that's not what you specifically asked for but I'm not your clerk and you can research like a big boy if you want specific stats.

If its obvious that black people are disproportionately impoverished and commit a disproportionate amount of crime maybe it'd be ok to assume there's some sort of correlation there? Against the context of America's historical treatment of black people the case seems stronger.

All I have been saying is that there are contextual reasons to explain why crime stats show black people commit more violent crime. I'm not ignoring the reality of the stats, its just that I don't believe that black people are more violent by nature.

Look, there is legitimate data out there that shows that violent crime correlates with black people and even factoring in poverty levels, black people still commit disproportionately more than other races. I was hoping the data wouldn't show that but I was wrong and can freely admit that. I know because I did google and research it.

However, I still believe in other factors at play like disproportionate policing of minority neighborhoods, our justice system as it pertains to poor people in general, redlining, the fact that property taxes fund schools, and our general history with people of color among others. At the end of the day, it's really just putting a critical thinking cap on for a second combined with being a bit empathetic to get there. Believe what you want to believe but damn maybe try listening instead of drawing your own conclusions about everything.
