I’m on my second pair, first pair lasted about 2.5 months. I got a second pair that are starting to fall apart. I wanted to give them a second chance because they are so fun but idk we’ll see how long these next ones last. They are super affordable at just over 300 on some websites so you do get what you pay for. If you have the money, get a pair and try them, just know that if you ride a little harder they’re probably gonna start to break

I demo'd a pair among a bunch of other skis this year and they seemed decent, didn't impress me the way the Dynastar Mfree 108 or Salomon QST Blank did, but I definitely didn't hate them the way I immediately hated the Head Kore 111's.

That being said I wouldn't personally buy either the K2 Reckoner (or any Salomon ski) because of durability concerns

2nd year in a row I'm skiing on them and they are great. Soft skis but still fun to carve on. Mounted with the Shift 13 and toured aswell on them. Good price. Mounted -3 from center.
Btw Max Hitzig the german dude who threw a massive backflip in the FWT rides a pair of reckoner 112

I just got a pair of 88’s and rode them for a few days. Fun and woody, probably won’t last that long. Tips are the right stiffness to butter at my weight (170lbs).

What did you like/dislike about the mfree? Definitely considering a pair. Decent edge hood when you have it on groomers?

Which one? They're all pretty soft but have different personalities.

102 - silly soft jib ski. Tons of fun but gets a bad rep cause people who should have got Poachers hammer these on rails without detuning.

112 - Most versatile/stiffest. Great for soft snow but gets knocked around a bit in the chop.

122 - Likes being outside the rope. Doesn't like being inside the rope. Surfy af.

My pair exploded in five days with a very heavy detune. I'm 175cm/73kg, definitely not the biggest guy around and had the 2021 177cm reckoner 102. I'm guessing I'm on the advanced side of things but definitely am not breaking skis very often this fast.

All of my other skis have held up at least 10 times longer before having similar results with the exact same kind of conditions and abuse. In the grand scheme of things, every ski will have similar issues when abused like this, just not this soon.

The comparison to Poachers is just so stupid. Why would anyone pick a Poacher if they want a soft and playful ski? The marketing department also encourages to ride the wreckoners in the park. The K2 team riders use this particular ski in the park all the time and are not afraid to show it.

Not sure why someone would pick the Poacher if they want a soft and playful ski. They'd pick it because they ski lots of park and want a durable park ski. Poachers have been in the K2 lineup through multiple generations of their other freestyle skis, and for good reason.

I agree with you that K2 marketing is a little ambitious and almost facetious about the R102, but on the flipside, skiers ought to know the pros and cons of a soft jib ski and take marketing with a grain of salt. Athletes are gonna athlete, and get that shit for free.

For the record, my first gen 102s are dead as shit but haven't exploded yet.

I didn't think I was comparing the two and certainly didn't suggest they were similar. To reference my first post, I simply said that people who bang into stuff on the daily would be better served by Poachers.

The Reckoners are good at what they were designed for (jibbing, butters, all mtn playful freeride), regardless of whatever dumb hucks K2 decides to post on Instagram.

It has great "suspension" i.e., isn't harsh skiing fast on windbuff or other non ideal conditions, and felt pretty nimble despite having decent stability. Swing weight was manageable too, despite it being a heavy ski. Honestly not much stood out to me that I didn't like.

I'm not sure this is a ski you would want if you are most concerned with edge hold on groomers though. I mean it skied fine on groomers and had good enough edge hold, but its definitely not its focus
