Craw_DaddyThe Beta-alanine, creatine, and heart-rate-increasing chemicals found in a lot of pre workouts are good for anaerobic exercise. Skiing is aerobic and therefore unless you want to have a stroke or heart attack on the mountain it is not advisable for you to take it. or do. I don't care. Its a free country.
ReturnToMonkeyDamn you must be a boomer to be only skiing in the aerobic regime. I often finish my runs winded af, it's awesome
Craw_DaddyI’m not sure what you’re talking about… If you are winded then that means your body requires more oxygen which means you’ve been doing aerobic exercise. Unless you hold your breath while you ski or something.
Anyway… the issue with taking preworkout to ski isn’t so much that you won’t see much benefit from b alanine and creatine and moreso that it could increase your heart rate to a point outside of your healthy range.
ReturnToMonkeyYou can reach a point in your activity level where your muscles are requiring more oxygen than they can get, then they enter the anaerobic regime. If you are skiing down a mogul run with huge bumps and not taking breaks, especially if you're not in insane shape, you'll definitely get anaerobic exercise. Jumping off the lift and skiing really hard for 5-10 minutes all day long is a great anaerobic workout if you keep the intensity up. If you are skiing more mellow, you probably aren't reaching that level of intensity, hence why I'm calling you out
