eheathimagine defending the IRS, those are all things that give the citizen more money back so of course they want to make that more difficult, you could literally send them a short questionnaire and they could take care of 90% of peoples taxes.
when it comes to reported tax income, they know it all, you're suppose to determine your adjusted income that dictates your final tax bracket, it's all a racket.
bustedpivotThe IRS doesn't know anything other than what people tell them.
In most audits like the one OP is now involved in, he told the IRS he had X income, but someone who paid him money told the IRS about it (because they deducted their cost for his labor), and now the math does not add up. The IRS has no clue who is correct. Tons of employers make mistakes in issuing 1099's or make mistakes in reporting their labor costs. In these cases, OP can ask the employer to issue a correction. If he purposely omitted the income or has no reasonable explanation as to why the other party reported having paid him the income, the IRS will assume he received it. AT THAT POINT the IRS will tell OP what amount of tax he owes on the unreported income. OP has multiple redundant levels of due process where he can now dispute it if he believes for some reason someone other than him is mistaken.
eheathbruh i understand how the IRS works, im saying it should change. anyway, not looking to start another pointless arguement, im actually surprised by the polarizing opinions about taxes.
bustedpivotI actually agree with you in this thread, which is wild. People literally do not understand on a basic level why federal agencies even exist. They think tax revenue is like stolen from them and just goes off into the ether or some shit or only spent on the evil deeds of some secret cabal.
Profahoben_212That or to city/county/state level stuff. People have no idea how much roads are to build/maintain....how much signage is...courts...clinics...licensing boards...inspectors etc etc etc.
People love to shit on the government because it's easy to do and #capitalism or whatever..... But it is a fine line of underpaid overworked workers keeping America from looking like a 3rd world country.

Craw_DaddyYeah dude federal income tax totally goes towards maintaining local roads. Ur a fuckin genius

LonelyI mean, yeah? Like 51 billion green ones from the fed in 2020. State and county still pay the lions share but fed dollars absolutely do contribute.
Varies from state to state but
I think here in Michigan something like 30% of the MDOT funding comes from the fed. About 75% then goes to MDOT and the rest is distributed to county and city commissions or something like that.
And that's not even getting in to FEMA. We had bad flooding up here a while back. Took a while but the local commissions got millions from the federal government to fix shit.
I guess I don't know if all of that money comes from federal income tax but I'd imagine there's at least a little bit mixed in there.
skiermanFederal funds can and have been recently allocated back to the states for use in infrastructure projects including maintaining the roads and bridges, you stupid fuck.

Craw_DaddyWOOOOW A WHOOLE 51BILLION!??!! THAT'S LIKE A FRACTION OF A PERCENT OF THE TRILLIONS WE GIVE THE GOVERNMENT
LonelyAh yeah gotcha. But you do understand now that federal tax dollars go to local roads right? Kinda seemed like you didn't before.
Since you want more dollars going into these projects I guess you think it's a good thing that infrastructure bill got signed in right?
Craw_DaddyI understand how the federal government allocates the money I give it just fine.
skierman"Yeah dude federal income tax totally goes towards maintaining local roads. Ur a fuckin genius"
No, you don't.
skiermanFederal funds can and have been recently allocated back to the states for use in infrastructure projects including maintaining the roads and bridges, you stupid fuck.
Farmville420Dude I’m sorry but this just isn’t true. The roads and bridges you are talking about only applies to federal infrastructure, which is anything that is labeled with the federal shield, federal chevron, or more generally the classic red white and blue interstate symbol. The purpose of maintaining those roadways is for transportation of military personnel and equipment. I can’t post pics cuz the app is busted but within AASHTO there is a comprehensive guide to signage and each state specific symbol for state roads, which are paid for by state income taxes (substantially less money and astronomically more roadways. If you live in the US there is a 99% chance you live in some sort of master development where maintenance of roadways, utilities, and landscaping is the responsibility of the owner or a private utility district (which is not funded by tax dollars). If you want more specific examples I can type out an entire list of the private water, sanitation, storm water, and energy districts in denver alone (it’s about 50ish districts that operate privately and cover the entirety of denver metro). So people saying “why is this pothole in my neighborhood not fixed? My tax dollars should be paying for that!” Is actually just not true at all.
VTshredder69Taxation is theft
thankagaperlol, the purpose of the agenda is to keep you blind, deaf , dumb.
hunter biden worked for pelosi behind trumps back, as he was president. hunter made deals in foreign countries that would have gone against trump, his lost laptop had all of the information but was hidden from your knowledge, during the election.... joe biden was elected because of his sons dirt work, appointed by the WEF...... the insurrectionist had this information and chanted hang pelosi....
btw, hunter aint no coke head, his girlfriend testified to him cooking crack in vegas penthouses.
(all subjective opinions)

Profahoben_212Also if your local roads are interstates, then plenty of fed funding goes to maintaining those roads.
Profahoben_212Well, you clearly can't fucking read. Talking about different taxes here. Also not talking solely about roads either.
Also if your local roads are interstates, then plenty of fed funding goes to maintaining those roads.
skiermanNO, BRO! ITS NOT A LOCAL ROAD IF THE FED MAINTAINS IT EVEN IF IT GOES THROUGH YOUR TOWN! THAT'S NOT LOCAL BRO!

Farmville420A local road by definition can’t be an interstate, and if you want it to be maintained by the fed it has to be built to fed standards (which literally nobody follows because you have much more freedom designing to private standards). “Local road” is a classification.
