i’m looking at either Marker griffin 13 or the look pivot 15gw, the pivots match my skis and boots but the brakes are 115? is that too big ?
ski waist width is 94 mm and tail is 116.5
i have no idea how brake sizing works and how far they go in and out when disengaged.
what’s the proper size i should have on these skis??
i ride Midwest 80%park and 20% goofing around the hill.
any help would be appreciated right now as am i trying to rip the end of season and my local guy is out right now

price and color doesn’t really matter and i would get a white one either brand and curious if a 95 would scratch the top of the skis?

Pivots have more elasticity in the heel and toe than markers so more chance of you being able to save it and not lose a ski. They also have a lower stack height in the heel so you are lower on the ski and in a more neutral stance. Plus not a fan of how with griffins you mount a plastic piece with 2 screws on the toe then slide the second half of the toe in and only have 2 screws directly into the ski from your binding vs pivots having 4 screws through the binding into the ski. It’s not the biggest difference ever but I think pivots do ski nicer than basically every other binding. Nothing wrong with other bindings but pivots have a bunch of little things that kinda add up. Also the mount pattern in the heel is the smallest of any binding so you get a more natural ski flex which is nice on soft skis like b dogs.

95 will be perfect, pivot brakes run wide and the 95 can fit up to n around 108mm. There’s no good reason for you to get the 115. I unfortunately ran 115s on a 97mm ski and they would get caught and lock up in each other all the time, especially if you ski with a narrow stance
yep sounds like i’ll be going for the pivots 95mm, no need for my brakes to get caught up with my skis together and eat the ground

how does it differ in feel from another binding? i’m feeling like i won’t feel secure or clicked in like my skis are one with me. does the elastic travel have any effect on that

you wont feel any difference bud, just cop the pivots and you'll be glad you did

Just the looks, you don’t see many good skiers locally or nationally using marker, they all have pivots

Buy harlaut pivots off corbets they’re on sale and have the 95mm brakes
Harlaut almost exclusively rides pivots so the ski would've been developed with that binding in mind. Also if you're comparing the pivot 15 to a marker binding the better comparable is the jester. The Griffon is more like the 12 or 14, with more plastic. Not a bad binding but it's designed to be a very lightweight and has a centered weight platform, sacrificing durability

I mean not like they design it around the bindings. If someone gives feedback on a ski with x binding, the binding is inherently a factor in what they experience. Does it acctually make a difference though? Probably not
