I have mixed feelings on this, I go top up my hydroflask with coffee and don't tell them about it so I ain't so saint. But I also pay Mammoth for all my foodstuffs, I have a bad habit of forgetting to bring snacks.
In my defense, they have canceled the last 3 early ups with free breakfast, so its my little way of getting back at them.
For sure wouldn't pull that stunt at a small mountain though, I think Mammoth can afford me taking 8oz of coffee once or twice a month in my own container.

Even if I have a lot of money in the future I would still steal from a mega corp because they don't deserve those profits, the same reason I still have a 7 year old samsung galaxy, wouldn't feel the same not to steal
We've got a homie at the resort that just charges us like $3 for like 30 bucks of food. Also the little high school kids are finessers theyre pocketing burgers and donuts and just walking out
order pad thai's or other dank noodle based dishes /soups that are easily compact-able, then just shove the entire meal into a soft drink cup, pop a lid on and pay. sure u still pay 4.50$ for a 28oz "drink", but ur knocking off about 80% of the price.
bonus is ur meal is in a cup, and u can now eat on the chair, just dont forget to snag fork/spoon.
i also recommend doubling up the lids to conceal the inside of the cup better if necessary, sizing up on the cup also works well too, and if that bitch is steamy just wait 2/3 mins before u go to the register
i of course have never done this before, and do not condone theft of any kind.
but fr if its just some mom and pop hill, pay the extra 2/3$ and be happy ur going skiing.

however, i used to have this buddy in HS that was a late bloomer and looked a few years younger than he actually was. dude was an absolute master at snatching resort food because he looked so innocent. i would be skiing with a group of 5/6 kids and he wouldn't straight up steal every single one of us a 25$+ meal almost every weekend. dude would just walk in/out and nobody would say a word. this lasted for 4 years, i ate so fucking good because of this dude...... homie got a little too confident tho and started taking his theft to the next level. started swiping goggles/base layers/ etc. at this point we kind told him to chill because he could actually get in serious trouble, and for the most part he did, but after i graduated and moved out, i came back home to find out he became kind of a clepto and eventually ended up getting arrested for running into a liquor store, underage, with a mask on, and swiping as many bottles as he could into a backpack before running out lmao.... kinda bummed me out, dude is a lot better now tho, enrolled in uni and im pretty sure he stopped the thievery completely.
dude was the robin hood of my local.
moral of this story is dont let being a thief become a part of ur personality, especially post 18th birthday...
another good story about this kid just came to mind lmao
when we were like 17/18ish, my crew, including this kid, somehow got ourselves into a college party a few hours over on a weekend ski trip, it was a huge fucking party too... long story short this kid ended up stealing a half pound of weed from some pretty big shot dealer in the city. the dealer did a whole snapchat campaign to find this out who took his sack, he ended up accusing the wrong person and some rando apparently got his ass beat severely, and the dealer in turn got arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, the dude who got jumped obviously wasnt cool about getting his ass beat for a crime he didn't commit. took him to court and all that
if he accused the right person, my boy would have got his shit absolutely decimated, potentially me / my friends too for being associated with him. we smoked like absolute kings tho the remainder of that trip hahaha
the more i type about this kid the more i realize how fucking stupid i was in highschool for hanging out with this retard lmao. good fucking times tho man
pro tip: most resorts don't lock upper mtn food places at night so all the candy bars, etc are up for grabs if ya skin up. Granted I'd only ever do that at a Vail or Alterra owned resort..
