To Buckle or Not to Buckle

I’ve been hitting a lot of park lately and started getting a sore spot on the top of my ankle. Traditionally I try to get a very snug fit. Boot fitter says my boots are a size larger than they need. And I've been maxing out my buckles.
Made a couple laps after lunch with very loose buckles and felt really solid…
Is it ok to ride like this?
tdlr: How snug are your boots in the park; is that different for hitting trees?

I get the buckles l on the lower leg snug, but not turn green in the face to do it snug. The two on top of the foot, just tight enough that they snap shut.

Really up to how it feels on your foot and also your ankle pain. Don’t disregard what the bootfitter is saying about being in a size too big as that’s gotta be one of the most common bootfit problems people experience.
Most people will leave their lower foot buckles loose but I personally like to have them real tight when buckled, leaving them unbuckled but perched on the ladders until i’m actually dropping in for a run.

I have a 2 piece boot. Bottom buckle is as light as possible. 2nd bottom buckle is undone because it compresses the veins on top of my foot. Top two are much tighter with booster strap.

You want your boots to be as tight as possible. Any movement in your boots is going to decrease skiing precision and increase soreness.
