Ya but I live in south Florida. So I have to plan my trips well in advance. I can’t just pick up and go. Which is why I’m trying to get an idea now of what places has decent snow fall early December.

I mean there’s no way to know man. In CO wolf creek is your best bet. Whistler sometimes gets dumped on early.

I know I cant get a forsure thing meaning 100% going to have snow, but more I’m just looking for ideas where typically they get snow fall by that point. Enough that a resort would be open To go ski. So I can try to start looking at flights, hotels, cars etc etc.

idk where has the best weather patterns that time of year, but it's not reliable that there will be good coverage in most places at that time

so you might want to consider a mtn/resort that markets itself as a place for families etc because those kind of places tend to have robust snowmaking systems to help mother nature out when need be

In Colorado, Wolf Creek is probably your best bet for decent coverage. Also maybe some places in Summit County will probably have artificial snow on limited terrain.

I’ve had a few people recommend wolf creek actually. Steamboat was also mentioned.

I mean there will for sure be open resorts and parks all over. Any well established place will have snowmaking and tons of money is put into new technology and upgrades by resorts each year. Real toll of the dice from mother nature at that time of year. I would be wary of tree skiing

depends what you're looking for, if you're a park oriented guy I would not suggest steamboat, although colorado in general is usually pretty open by december

Best time to take a trip everythign is still cheap.

Wait until a week before Thanksgiving to see who has a base. You will get a storm system rolling through when you are there.

All the super passes are still onsale as well so you can wait and pick the destination based on Epic/Ikon. Don't forget about Europe it snows early there and is cheap.

Family is here. Was a military kid so I moved all over the world for a bit but spent the majority of my life since then here because of family.

I always travel my birthday week. It’s the cheapest travel time of the year. As mentioned crowds are always small no matter where I go or what I’m doing. Love it.

My home mountain is Cataloochee since we have a cabin on the mountain. So I do NC all the time multiple times a year.

That’s why I won’t do it for a birthday. I want to actually travel somewhere decent.

Whistler is the cheapest big resort in North America if you get an affordable room in the village which is the case this time of year lots of options for under $100/night. Exchange rate is awesome.

EVERYTHING else in Canada is a motherfucking bitch and damn near impossible to do without a rental car. Whistler has easy airport shuttle from Van.

Never skied there other than a week after Thanksgiving but have taken 3 trips then if they get their November dump December is gonna be good. Might be a couple lifts they don't have enough staff for that far one back from Peak on the Whistler side probably won't run.

Check it out in the spring sometime. Late April and May have cheap hotel rooms, decent weather and excellent vibes in the village.

normally Great Divide Ski Area in Montana is open on thanksgiving weekend, this year they opened early because of big snowfall. i live about an hour and 15 minutes away

Summit county, CO or Wolf creek area are probably your best bet. They tend to be most consistent that time of year

Go to whistler then.

CO and most west coast resorts surely will have stuff open first week of December, but it's really limited. The only perk is flights into Denver are cheaper than dirt and rental cars are cheap too. Other than that, the skiing is meh so early. Better than anything you'll get in NC tho
