My younger brother really wants to progress skiing wise and he's getting real good real quick. He wants to get some skis. He's probably 5'7-8 and for reference I'm 6'2 and maybe he'll catch up to me. He's 14 turning 15. Should he wait a year or two more to stop growing or slow down to get skis or is there any justification behind maybe getting skis that are either sized to him or maybe a little oversized so he can grow into them?

My suggestion would be to go to local shops and buy previously used skis. Some sections will be cheaper than others, but if hes still growing, try to make it as affordable as possible. Once hes gone like 6 months without growth, then itll be time to really consider a true pair for him. If you cant find anything used, he might benefit from something slightly taller than him by about an inch or so. Try to shoot for fining some cheap used ones too though, but obviously not something thats going to hinder his current skiing ability.
just depends on your budget. if yall can afford it, i'd say get a pair that fits him now (ideally you find them used or at least for a deal) and then reassess later
if you can't afford that, what will he use in the meantime? rentals? in that case maybe just keep your eye out for a serious hookup price on a set
i feel like getting a ski to grow into is fine if it's just a little long on him, but 1) it sounds like he's gonna grow a lot if we can judge by you, and 2) it'll suck to have too-big skis as a beginner, they'll be cumbersome and unforgiving for him. plus as he grew into them he'd have to account for boot size going up too (ski bindings don't have a ton of wiggle room there beyond demo bindings)
Definitely go around to your local shops and try and find something second hand, you can find some crazy good deals. If nothing, and the budget isn’t looking great for a pair a year I’d just bite the bullet and get some skis that are a couple inches too big. That’s what I did, isn’t really a big factor especially when you are learning.
I haven't seen one in years but that chain "play it again sports" always went hard. Don't think I ever got ski stuff there but they had it. Got soccer cleats and other shit for years there. Started with used at the local shop. I was still growing a bit but my feet were abiut done when I started getting new stuff.
Def a toss up on the bigger. It works but also can make it hard to progress for sure.
As mentioned liok around for some deals. Sucks that these days everyone seems to sell shit for more than it's worth, sometimes even on a good deal where someone is hooking it up, people will swoop in to resell.
Even if they're a little beat up if you can get a good deal might be the move.
Try to get a used pair off marketplace or something for now. Then get a nice pair when he's done growing. Even just chat on the lift with other park skiers, if you drop the fact that your looking for skis there's a solid chance them or someone they know is selling a pair.

I would go to your local ski shop and try and find some used skis, this way you don't have to spend a lot of money on a pair of new skis that he will most likely outgrow in a season or two. If you don't have any luck there you can try marketplace or geartrade.
I wouldn’t get used skis from shops because a stores main goal is to make profit. Get him something cheap from showshare or FB marketplace. Something in the mid-high 170’s would be a good ski and will be sufficient until he’s gotten taller and skis really fast
Why not highball the length? Get a pair of 174cm and that should do it. Ill be tough at first but he will grow in to them. Just wait until you find a dope deal
