What is a sw unnat 2 on

Been thinking about this for a bit. Does landing unnat on the rail but spinning natural the unnat variation of sw 2 on or does unnat spin natural slide mean it is unnatural? Question is coming from a skier that prefers spinning right, sliding right, and looking over my right shoulder

Generally unnat refers to the direction you are spinning so if you spin sw right a sw left 2 would be unnat. I'm probally not the most qualified to answer this but thats what I have heard.

The unnatural call out usually refers to the spinning, you might spin left natural but prefer grinding left foot foward.

Thats why I would just call a trick "right" or "left".

I feel comfortable skiing switch looking over my right shoulder, but spin nat to the left.

Sw 2s have been a huge pain in the ass to learn, mainly bc of how hard it is to ski sw over left shoulder.

If I try sw 2, the sw ride in is super whack and I can’t even set up right, but if I do sw unnat 2, it feels fine riding in, but have to spin unnat and land unnat on the rail.



anyone else have this issue or have gotten over this?

Calling things unnatural is so stupid, people should just be able to do tricks both ways.

This is correct. People should also just pick the winning numbers in Powerball & Mega Millions. Picking the wrong numbers is so stupid. Like.... How hard can it be?

How many times you've hit a rail switch, looking over your weaker shoulder and spinning a 270 on on your weaker way of spinning? On a scale from 1 to 10, how hard would you describe it?

(For me at least) this is the tallest and steepest mountain to climb in all of freeskiing because you need to approach the feature looking over your unnatural shoulder and set the trick to your unnatural side.

My natural spin is to the left from regular but to the right from switch, so I get to slide the feature with my natural foot forward. But still, the switch left tricks are as hard as the other three directions combined.

Reps in, results out tho. You'll / I 'll get there. It just takes a lot of time and effort. Just like any trick or technique.

Many, because I make a point to do as many switch left threes as I do switch right threes, so I’m comfortable spinning 270 either way. It’s really not difficult to spin both ways, just takes a little bit of dedicated practice.

Nice! My journey towards it is on its first steps and I too feel like it's just super hard in the beginning but once you find the comfort in the set, no matter the size of the lip or kicker, it becomes easy because it's just a different set to my most comfortable spin direction.

I've done like 10 unnatural switch lipslides on an easy box and a few on a short PVC. The latter has to be the scariest thing I've done on skis 😂

Unnat is based on the spin on which I totally agree with

Calling things unnat is very reasonable. I do like 50% of my tricks unnat and it still feels a little bit more awkward and you can usually tell its unnat by my arms lol

I much prefer to land unnat on the rail. That's how bad I am at looking over my left shoulder skiing switch. Because of this, I spin right switch and left forward naturally

I generally say unnat is direction of spinning, at least for spinning onto the rail. So natural 2 on lands me unnat foot forward, and unnat 2 lands me nat foot forward.

imo it's just not a correct way to refer to this trick. it's either sw left lip or tails 2 on, or sw right lip or tails 2 on. you would never say 'unnat 270 on' just because you're landing unnatural on the rail.

An unnat 270 definitely isn't a trick name in any circumstance. It's a description of a person's ability to do a specific trick.
