Another Lovely Shop Mount

Just got CAST mounted by a tech who seemed familiar with CAST and said he has mounted them before. I thought I was in good hands until I had gotten up early af to tour and only found that my tech toe on one ski wouldn't engage. I looked closer and found that one of the posts was ungodly crooked which caused the tech toe to not engage all the way down with the posts.

Wondering what y'all think the shop should do. Is this something they could straighten out by redrilling a straight hole with some kind of insert?

I also noticed the plates on both skis aren't flush either.

Hmm, usually those bottom screws don't affect how the tech toe engages. It's the two top screws and more specifically the metal "wings" that might be getting in the way. You can bend those two metal wings near the top two screws so that they don't get in the way but are snug against the screws to prevent play.

Either way, it's worth asking the shop to try and straighten out that screw.

Edit: I now see that you can't get the tech toe all the way down and secure onto the posts. Definitely have the shop fix that crooked screw and try again.

Looks like they just didn't get that bottom right screw totally flush. Should be an easy fix that they wouldn't need to drill any new holes for.

CAST can be finicky. I'd ask for a refund on labor at the shop, and possibly take this into your own hands.

I mounted two sets of CAST in the garage (full p15 installs) and one thing that works is to loosen the screws, put the binding / tech toe on there, then tighten them down. I may have made some angle adjustments with some soft hammering but hey, its a fine tune to get it dialed.

Also, I have had to bend the wings to get my toes to engage because I kicked my tech toes off at one point and bent the things - dont use your boots to knock em off.

Gotcha appreciate the tips. I’m at college right now and don’t have access to a drill, I typically mount my own skis. Going to bring them into the shop and see what they are willing to do/offer and go from there

At this point - no new holes - just use a #3 posidrive to mod. But yeah - shop - find manager - see what they can do good luck.

Rasta cast toes look sick on the purple!
