Buck sounds like a kook just learn to ski better and won’t matter what’s between your feet. I mean obviously there’s going to be a difference between riding race skis and pow skis, but who cares. Dumb article for dumb people.

Not gonna lie I don’t entirely disagree, saw this on Facebook and some bloke with a ‘ski the east’ cover photo was talking about how he carves his 112s around, like bro you would ski much better and have more fun on groomers on a much narrower ski.

obviously fat skis are cool and he’s talking entirely about intermediate skiers on groomers not freeride or park but I say let him cook

This person has to be a retired ski coach.

I’ve had so many people of this type call my ARV 96’s “powder boards” that I dont even try to make conversation anymore of the difference between 120 underfoot and mid 90’s. Some people will only think of the appearance and not the application.

I sometimes take my 112s in the park, makes pedaling slightly more difficult, other than that I can’t think of any way wider skis make it more difficult to do literally anything else

In the context of park skis I think he's wrong, but there's a lot of people out there who could probably take his advice. I'm gonna be controversial and say I kinda agree with him.

"My feeling is that people often choose skis based on their appearance or what they think will make them look cool on the slopes. But the truth is that skiing is all about finding the right tool for the job and few skiers need powder boards as an everyday ski."

There's a lot of people out there (who probably aren't on NS tbh) who spend most of their time on groomers, and narrower skis would honestly suit them better imo.

I agree. 90% of people who go skiing would have more fun on a pair of Blizzard Brahmas than whatever it is they're riding because they're just cruising groomers and maybe low angle bumps. Like yeah, some people here may carve 120s but have you ripped groomers on narrow skis with tons of metal in them? Because that is way more fun than doing it on powder boards.
