I've been riding a lot at Mammoth the last two seasons and I have been noticing kids with these cat ears on their helmets. Usually its the little rippers in ski school and I know the parents put stuff on their kids helmet sometimes so they can pick them out of a crowd and I figured these were just the next iteration of that.
The last two days I've been in Mammoth, I've seen more of these and not just on the kids. For instance, I saw a guy probably early 20's park rat looking dude you know, full tilts, pivots center mounted wearing all black, with some black cat ears. I had to say the kit was pretty well composed and I was pretty impressed w his application of the cat ears. I'd say cat ears are undeniably pretty feminine but he had managed to find a more masculine pair, and with the kit he had a thing going.
I started looking more closely and I saw a liftie chick had some on her helmet, and I spotted what I'd classify as someone's mom, also with some cat ears.
I've done plenty of festivals and traveling and generally encourage people to do whatever they want for self expression so this isn't a hate thread. Is anyone else seeing this, or is this just some LA vibe that is excusive to SoCal? I missed the storm hood trend so just wondering if I need to go find some cat ears.
