tzhakiI was thinking of getting my next skis center mounted (or near center mount). My current skis are at the factory recommended mounting point. Does it feel weird to switch between the two?
icecoastshredderDoesn’t it depend on if the skis are symmetrical?
TOAST.unless it's a symmetrical ski I always go like 1-2cm off center. don't ever really notice the difference

PimpChimpinIf you don’t notice the difference why do you do it
Farmville420Get your skis mounted where it makes sense, only mount true center if they’re symmetrical. If zahner is chucking 5 swaps at -2.5 cm then I can’t fathom any sort of benefit of true center other than making tail presses easier lol
muffMan.What skis do you have now and what ski are you getting.
tzhakiMy current skis are armada arv 84s and theyre 157cm. I was thinking of getting longer arv 84s or 86s and maybe even line skis as my next skis.
CT_CREWtrue center makes tail presses harder technically... longer tail = more pressure to flex
nose bud would "easier" with true center though

Technically less force to flex if the distance is greater, here's the simplest explanation I could find lol

CT_CREWnah bro, you're not making things simple. The set up in your physics model there, is totally different to the way forces are applied when doin tail butter on skis. With your theory skis with bindings mounted on the actual tips would be the easiest for tail butter.....sounds dope (and makes about as much sense as trying to change all the current freestyle terminology in skiing to match 90's rollerblading, but thats another thread haha)
Here is a simple/relatable model for you....
1. Take two pair of the same skis, and mount one at true center, the other at - 5cm back
2. click in, lean back, and flex the skis.
3. Which set up flexed the tails further/more easily?
Farmville420I’ve done this already, got Allplays at -2cm from center and reckoners at -5.5 from center and tail presses are way easier on the Allplays even though the recks are more flexible

jompcockMount a pair of skis 20cm ahead of center and tell me it's harder to tail press than a ski mounted 20cm behind center. It's basic leverage.
Farmville420Dog a bending moment is literally just the physics phrase for the word “leverage” lmfao
jompcockMount a ski 40cm ahead of center and get back to me on how easy tail presses are with them.
Farmville420It would be easier to flex the ski, if you pay for the mount I’ll do it and take a video lol
