Just went on a trip to mammoth and man... let me tell you all how much I hate United Airlines. ( + advice if you ever plan on going).
- MSP --> DEN: Plane has to fix a "backup generator" while the plane sat there overnight. FAA clears it two hours later. Me and the homies tried to plan early by getting our re-route figured out. United separates us on wack flights.
- (originally DEN --> BIH) NOW -- DEN --> SFO: 1 of my homies gets stuck in Denver for a night. Rest take flight to SFO and stay there. They gave us 2 meal vouchers and free hotel just outside airport (ASK CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR MORE AND THEY WILL GIVE IT TO YOU).
- SFO --> BIH: Fuel truck backs up into plane wing. 2 hour repair. Pray I don't die in the air.
- We make it to bishop airport after missing 2 days of skiing.
- Our ski bags all got lost. What the fuaaaack.
- Buy expensive shit and rentals in mammoth. $500+ tab.
- Ask United to get shit figured out. Bags get delivered at 11pm at night by unknown bus service.
- We get one day of skiing in and are gassed so our filming plan was ruined. Wasted a fresh session with the hvx...
TLDR: United sucks. Mammoth is hard to get to if you are not in state.
ADVICE:
- SAVE ALL RECEIPTS IF THIS HAPPENS TO YOU. United will refund your bags and ticket. The rest of the purchases you have to fight for or take it to legality.
- Make sure you hassle customer service. I hate being a karen, but this is the only time I will literally try and force a billion, or trillion dollar company that gets tax breaks from the gov, to give me money back. You have to fight for something that was out of your control
- Mammoth is fun but go during weekdays and end it with a Saturday. Gotta catch the low lines then the parties. This shit is not cheap, save some money and go (im sure u all know this but it's general rule of thumb, I mean it's CA).
Thanks for letting me rant NS.
