Rant ab kid thread

Once upon a time, there was a powder day. After 4 hours of standing in line i finally get a shot to ski the waist deep pow. Feeling amped on the ride i sit with this kid and he won’t shut up so i just ignore him. We get to the top and i take a second to wait for my buddies. On the way down me and the gang are bombing. That asshat kid i was riding with sees me coming and starts pizzaing out from in the trees and i don’t notice him. I light his ass up at 25 miles an hour and have to help his ass get his skis back on and make him stop crying while my friends get back in line. The kid found a way to ruin my pow day on the first lap.

honestly now that i’m hearing all this i see what i guys are saying. def my fault, only reason it ruined my day was cuz i felt bad and just went home.

Yeah one time I took my right ski off and fucking slapped a kid with it that was doing some fuck shit by a jump. Luckily he was wearing a helmet and my buddies had the car warm for a getaway, had to ski other hills the rest of the year because I heard they were on the lookout for me.

One time I’m on the mountain and this 7 or 8 year old kid comes up to me asking where his mom went, I was so confused and taken aback. How the fuck am I supposed to know that shit? Anyways, he kept asking stupid questions so I sent him down a double black, hopefully he learned his lesson.

Kids can be a pain yes, but being mean to them is not going to teach them anything other than to be mean to others. I've had my run ins with little ones from sliding across my topsheets in the lift line to being cut off in the park. Sometimes a simple explanation of what they did wrong and maybe some guidance along with a fist bump goes a long ways. Be the person that you would look up to.

Also it's irrelevant to the original post. You made a post about how you shafted some kid on a chairlift convo who was super stoked about a pow day, and you thought that behavior was funny, and thought we would too. Then you go on to describe how you collided with the kid and tried to deflect blame on him, rather than your awareness of your environment and awareness of skier laws that we all agree with. You're in the wrong here. Period.

A few months ago my team was in town so i went to this hockey game down in colorado springs. Its a new, small arena so i figured since it’d actually be pretty full that i’d spend the extra $$ to get a good seat low by the glass. Ended up sitting next to this family with a few 11yo kids or so, one was a friend/teammate of the other. Anyways, the one kid brought his thundersticks from another game so he was banging them together, annoying but fine. But this kid had like ADHD and was hitting his friend over the head with them constantly, annoying for friend im sure but also me having these thundersticks backswinging into my face. Kids mom told him to stop once but after that she did her bare minimum and that was it. So i had to ask him to stop myself. Didnt last for long either, so i go walk around during intermission and think about getting a different seat but didnt seem fair for it to be my problem to move, so i sat back down. Composed, but pissed. Eventually kid keeps doing it so i ultimately tell him “if you dont stop doing that, were gonna have problems”. They ask what im gonna do about it, i dont remember what i said it wasnt threatening physical violence (i knew to avoid that) maybe somethin about takin thundersticks away or telling the usher “cops” etc. kids both say “oooOoohhh” sarcastically, but it actually worked. Game went to OT so i did ultimately move to be closer to the net, and then we won so that was sweet.

but i definitely felt dirty leaving that game after threatening a kid. Wonder if the kids parents ever heard about it (theyre season ticket holders, i stick out like a broken finger as a visiting fan).

was teaching some kids yesterday and this girl didn't want to ride the lift because she was wet and later i found out her tailbone hurt... oof. but she was very good and rode the lift anyway which im glad about, because im very conscious about making the parents money worth it and making sure the skilled kids aren't bored, even if the program is really more of a thing to get the kids out for a bit than intensive lessons.

The proof is in the pudding that all these generic profiles are from Reddit, etc. because they keep bringing up Karma farming. NS is a tiny website. Karma farming is not worth the time it would take. No one is selling their profiles here Lmao

tbh, the little kids are the only reason skiing is still staying alive for now. Thye can be annoying, get in the way, things like that, but its up to us, the older ones who know thr rules to follow them so that we dont ruin there day. Was at snowmass last year just bussin a groomer late in the day, kid jumps right in front of me(50-100 ft ahead). Im going about 45 mph and I have a massive crash making sure not to seriously injure him. I think its what damaged my ski, broke my goggles(got them warrantied) and hurt my finger, but im the much older one and can take a fall like that which I mostly did(just some huge bruises) and the kid was fine. It would have been a much different situation had I acted in full neglect like the possibility of actual legal actions. Was I pissed and annoyed, hell yeah, but it was a learning experience. Be the better person and listen to them. Feed their stoke. Boost their enthusiasm. Theyre the future of the sport and you might be a dad one day and your kids will be in the same situation as that kid.
