Wrong Binding Position Armada ARV 96

Hi guys

I've big problems with my new ski. Those idiots from BlueTomato-Shop mounted my Binding on the new armada ARV 96 on Factory Recommended instead of Freestyle Recommended, altough I told them to put it on Freestyle Recommended...
I dont know what to do because the binding is now 3cm too far in the back. Should I drill new holes and mount it right or let it be and have a too directional ski for the park? Do this 3cm make a big difference on rails & jumps?
Unfortunately they cant send me a new one because like always with those arv 96 they're sold out again...

Is it very bad for the ski to drill new holes for the binding or is that okay if you close the wrong holes good with something?

You are totally fine to just remount forward as long as the holes are 1ish cm from the old holes. Use wood plugs and wood glue to plug the old holes, saw em flush and it'll be just fine. If you want to go above and beyond, after the plugs are in and fully dry (24-48 hours to be safe), mix a little expoxy and paint the top of the heads of the plugs with it so the wood stays all sealed.

If you remount at home, get a good paper template from the internet, triple check all your measurements, measure holes on the ski side to side to make sure it's centered once you have the template taped on and send it. Otherwise find another shop to mount your shit and be clear about what you want.

I mean that blows, and for pure park I think 3cm will make a difference. But a remount won’t effect the integrity of the ski. I’ve got a pair on 4th mount all around the same mount point.

Do you have your shop receipt? If you told them freestyle, they wrote it down, and they fucked that up, they owe you.

Yes, I have a receipt but the problem is that these guys dont have the ski anymore on stock and I need them very quick...

are you so sure you want/need center mount? unless you only ski park/ski switch like literally as much as forward and/or just know damn well that's what you want on your skis, i'd suggest considering leaving them as they are

it's armada, it's not like they mount them way far back anyway really. this rec point will do perfectly fine in the park etc, theyre super well balanced skis made for park etc, and you won't sacrifice any of your nose (makes a difference when there's fresh snow, if that's something you get after) and it will work with the sidecut a tiny bit better too

i really think centermounting is one of the things NS gets too carried away with. ive done it plenty so don't think i'm just biased against it, but the pros don't always outweigh the cons

Usually they would just swap the ski, but thing is you bought it, and they fucked it up.

Remount it then, but don’t get charged and try for some store credit.

The shop should 100% do the remount for you for free (besides owing you a new ski). If they're not okay with the closeness of the holes then a paper jig and some tape on your drill bit to mark the depth will be your best option. Don't let the shop not compensate you though- they messed up and its on them to make that right.

I would do a reclamation. They hav to call armada and order a new ski. If they don’t have em Stock it’s not your problem.

you have the right as customer to get what you payed for.

Meh, yeah maybe if they drilled through the ski or something. The problem is easily rectifiable and the end product of just remounting is essentially good as new. If I were the shop, I'd just give the dude the money back for his original mount, mount up the skis properly and call it a day. It's not like the ski is fucked now, it's just inconvenient.

In no way will the ski be "too directional for park"

But remounting will be fine, there will be no change in structural integrity

At my shop if we mis-mount a ski, we will get the customer a new replacement pair. If its not something we stock, we'll go out and buy it from another shop. Armada warranty states that a ski mounted more than once voids any warranty so it can be worth it (although probably doesn't matter on a park ski lol)

Blue Tomato is a big company, I'm sure they can source one somewhere

Hey pretty late but is the freestyle reccomended on the arvs true center? Or how many cm back from true center is it? Cuz i measured and freestyle reccomended is exactly on half of the sidewall, but 2cm back from center of the whole ski.

Send them back, get a refund and get them mounted elsewhere. You spent good money on a new pair of skis only to have an extra set of holes thanks to someone else's fuckup?

Arv are actually a surprisingly directional ski. I think the old rec mount was -6cm from core with freestyle being like -3cm (don't quote those numbers). New one dosen't seem much different so going forward for park is kinda needed

iirc it's -2.5 and -5, so we're talking about 2 inches back at max

everyone is welcome to their own preference and opinion on it, i just think people way overthink it and NSers especially overemphasize mounting up. if you ski fresh snow ever you'll miss that nose on your ski sometimes whereas ARVs are plenty capable in the park regardless where you mount it
