Bunk Ass Carve Takeoff’s

I have pretty good flatbase cork 7’s but I think flatbasing is kinda lame unless ur ripping a dub 14 to the fourth line so im tryna learn carved sev’s and they look like shit lol

I know I carved way too hard and set too early in this clip but even on my cork 3’s my inside edge doesnt engage sometimes. If someone wants to give me advice to fix this that would be sick thx.

It's way easier if you carve in a way that you pop straight forward.
so instead of carving like you did and traveling to left, adjust your curve and try to go straight. When you get a hang of carving in that way, you can start adding more travel to the side and flexing on your carve skills

Totally agree but my main issue is on my left ski's edge not engaging. I can obvs carve on groomers but I never took ski lessons so im hoping someone can explain why I fuck up my carves on takeoff. I feel like its some technical issue maybe

As far as carving goes concentrate on "rolling over" both ankels and knees so that your lower legs are parallel to each other when angled toward the snow.

but honestly the carve looked pretty decent...my advice to clean it up is this....

It seems like you are corking too hard, too early. Dont get me wrong you still have to carve hard, pop, and set the spin and cork firmly, BUT.... try and delay the point in your rotation at which you go fully corked. Think of the first 360 occuring at an off axis, leaned back angle, and as the rotation progresses into the second 360 you should dip the cork fully. This flippy second 360 should leave you coming out of the 7 in a perfect weight forward position to stomp.

Stop looking like a cryptid on the takeoff and ur good, just rip west coast for a year or 2 and you;ll learn how to carve buddy boy

Something that has been helping me with matching edge angles is thinking about having a “long leg” and “short leg” while carving, so the outside leg is more extended than the inside leg.

Having your feet a little wider apart and increasing angulation at the hip will also help
