On3p billy goat 118 length and how it feels

Im gonna be going to Whistler in spring break. End of March because I'm still in school. I'm looking to get a new pair of skis and the Billy goat's have been really interesting with the RES and the asym but I'm wondering how does the 118 feel. Ive seen a lot of posts on how the old 116 felt but I'm not seeing much on the new 118. If anyone has experience on the 118's and what it feels like that'd be great. I mostly ski the west coast and some rockies and in Whistler this spring, I'm gonna be spending most time off-piste inbounds with like 3-4 groomers at the beginning or end of the day to accompany my little sister. I'm wondering if the billy goat is fine on groomers or is it an absolute nono. Also im not so sure what length I should go. I'm pretty small and light, at 5'8" and 135 lbs so idk if the 172's are better or the 177's or larger.

I have the 118. And I do love the billy goat for what it is. An unreal soft ski. Now on groomers. Well it's a different beast. Now I will take them on groomers and get them up on edge. It's kind of wild. And the radius is so huge. You are not gonna link tight turns. Most of the time. Im stivoting those planks. So I think it's worth to get them and have more fun in the soft snow and then have a more challenging ride back to the lodge

Tldr. Get them and have fun

right that’s fine with me. i’m mostly looking for a good ski in soft snow. i’m wondering what length to go tho

I got mine on sale due to a blown sidewalk in construction. (I've had no issues with it). It's a tour layup and it's stiff. I really enjoy it. That being said. I'm 6.2 and weigh about 250 rn so I definitely need a stiffer ski. So you may be able to get away with a softer ski

I have not skied the billy goat but have skied similar, fat, soft pow skis and it’s always nice to have ski a bit on the longer side if you charge hard, and if you get a custom flex then for sure the 177. It may feel a bit long in some tight trees but you will be able to really open it up when the skiing gets fast.
For example I am 5,11, 150p and ski a ct 3 in 190 and some custom kindreds in a 191, 122mm underfoot.

I have no idea of your ski ability but id be looking at 177 or 182 if i were you.

They're super loose and pivoty if the snow's at all soft.

i think i’m advanced but not expert. i mostly ski glades, bowls, powder, and steeps. my old skis were a head more 99 162. i’m feeling like a jump to 177 would be a lot but i’m not sure. would a 172 be too short?

I highly recommend contacting ON3P, they'll be able to give you a much better answer than anyone on NS.

okay yea i contacted them. they said to go with a 177 and a soft flex. still deciding whether i go 118 or 110 for the billy goats.

Get the woodsman 110 instead, you'll enjoy your time in Whistler much more.

Whistler hasn’t been the wet goo mountain people say it is in a while. It’s also not guaranteed to snow then.

Though I am thinking of picking up a J96's for the days that the snow isn't so good. Then grab a bg118's for the good powder days

I ski the 116’s on groomers, they do OK but they aren’t locked in like a full camber non RES skis on hard snow. That’s not what you’re buying them for though. I’d do it and try it out, 177 would be the length for you here, in either a tour construction or a soft flex.
