Skiing and Getting Jacked

Does getting absolutely yoked have any correlation with skiing improvements? I mean I guess if I'm like 200 shredded versus 120 skinny I'll theoretically be able to spin and flip faster. The Fagan twins (random tiktokers) are professional skiers and both are huge. Don't know whether they significantly improved after they gained all that muscle.

As far as injury prevention goes, I was 6’ 185 lbs around 12% body fat, fresh out of football season and still broke my back among other serious injuries my first big slam on the jumps of the season. Id imagine muscle prolly helps you with big explosive fast spins a little but prolly not enough to make lifting worth ur time if ur only lifting to be a better skier. Alex hall, matej, dylan deschamps, andri ragetli (we all hate the dude but cmon spaghetti is a good ass skier) and henrik are the best skiers out rn and they don’t have a ton of muscle. I doubt they lift, skiing is more about practice than how much lean muscle you have compared to other sports like football and basketball etc

Yes the fagans are ripped but they were still ridiculous skiers before they got jacked, probably even better than they are now, I think they lift for other reasons besides skiing

Real talk though if you put on mass then your skis will feel softer. Maybe good maybe bad depending on what you do with them. However I can always recommend squats and deadlifts, leg strength is always a plus

Henrik is pretty big for his height you need to be strong to do the shit he does. I bet most pro skiers do exercise outside of skiing, at the very least a lot of tramp and floor stuff (which makes you really strong but not big).

But yeah huge muscles from lifting won't do shit for skiing.

Yes muscles help ofcourse, but not the kind of muscles you get from bodybuilding exercises and taking a bunch of roids, it will promote muscle tears more, just train for strength and do normal leg exercises, (not bodybuilding oriented exercises) and ofcourse roids will help with faster muscle recovery and endurance performance but it's also a drug you'll end up relying upon, can fuck with your liver/heart health etc.

You need really dense muscles. Every pro can probably leg press 1300 pounds even though they physically look like twigs. I explode on impact every time I hit a step down in the backcountry. So like being jacked means nothing you just have to actually be strong

Absolutely yoked? I have no clue lol. But I think generally that a fair amount of gym time will help most skiers perform better, it definitely helped me ski better (but I am far from absolutely yoked haha)

this thread is wack, but I will say that before i started lifting i couldn't backy on ground and now that I lift I can. skiing wise, maybe a slight increase to pop hight and spin rotation, but i think practicing will work better. But lifting in the summer is a good idea I think

Obviously, having muscle helps cushion you when you fall (Aymar Navarro)
, but there are other people I know of who aren't super big, but are incredibly strong skiers because they have good cardio and strong legs/core from running/working out.
