I know, I know... another BS post about "where to mount my bindings". Nevertheless, I have to ask.
I have never bought skis where I didn't center mount my bindings. I live on the east where it's icy, so I've always bought 90mm-ish waisted skis that are full-symmetrical twin tips. After going out west a few times, I realized the need for a wider pow ski in my quiver. I just bought some 2023 Sir Francis Bacons and they look sick. I have some Pivot GW 14's to throw on there and I just wanted to get some input from anyone who has ridden these same skis.
The skis have a line marked at DEAD Center (C) and then 2cm behind that, they have a Recommended line (R). I know Pollard is the brain behind the precise location of that R-line, but I just have to be sure this is the way.
I ride switch a lot, I love hitting rails on my way down each lap (like I'll do a few tree runs, then cut over to the terrain park for a quick pretz or two, then roll out to the basin and catch another lift to the tippy top).
I have dedicated Line Future Spins that are center mounted, and I really like how the symmetry feels when spinning and balancing. I bought the SFB's so I could have a good ski for powder, and also practice butters on (the Future Spins are way too stiff for butters).
I want my Bacon's to be able to jib, practice butters, and float decently well in powder when I cut off-trail and bust it through the trees.
If I mount these are the R-line, they will be the first skis I've ever owned that weren't centered. Do you think I will still enjoy these to the fullest?
I'm 6'0" and 185lbs, fyi.
Thanks for the help guys....
