I’m honestly kind of lost with this thread. Yesterday started out as one of the best ski days of my life where I was skiing at a level I had been working towards for years and had found satisfaction and love for the sport again which had been absent recently. Early yesterday afternoon I took a bad crash when I hooked an edge on a hidden rock in Breck. While tumbling I felt three gut wrenching pops in my knee. When I came to a stop I noticed a dull ache in my leg but otherwise felt fine until I tried to stand and my femur slid backwards basically off the top of my tibial plateau and my knee completely collapsed. After a long ordeal getting off the mountain with ski patrol, I was unsurprisingly informed by the ER I had severe damage to at least my MCL and PCL and possible partial tear to my ACL as well. Currently I’m waiting to get in to see an orthopedic surgeon but I just feel gutted. I had big plans for this year that are now trash with months of PT being the minimum just to get my leg back to a usable level. I know there are a ton of people on here that have gone through the same thing so…. Where do I go from here.

Sorry to hear this. It is absolutely gut wrenching to be in this position, but it is not the end. Go see a sports specialist and get an MRI. That will tell you exactly what is wrong and then you can plan accordingly. It might not be as bad as you have been told. Vibes on a speedy recovery and let us know the outcome.

One thing obvious seen here is ppl not taking injuries seriously and skiing through it

OP tend to the mental as your outlook will determine how you approach rehab, tough to be positive right now but appreciate small gains that will be made along the way

Been there too man but it passes. You’ll get to lay around like a king and people will give you food and drugs while you watch movies all day.



Also knee injuries like that are common. My injury was a mess and I had to deal with bone infections are all kinds of nasty stuff. You have a clear road to recovery which is very lucky.

w.e dude. its just skiing. look at the big picture.

i think having properly functioning legs for the rest of your life is more important than half a season of skiing.

That's me, and I regret it pretty much every time. Don't be me, get surgery if needed, do rehab, take your time, you will have plenty of years to ski
