Hello ns fam

Is the BSL (29.5in my case) on a FT/K2 boot the same true length compared to other brands? Can I Just click in and go?

BSL (in millimeters) means boot sole length and it is standardized so that all boots with the same BSL are the same. you seem to be talking about mondopoint (26.5,27.5,28.5 etc), and I don’t think all boots with the same mondopoint size are necessarily the same BSL. look for larger number beside the 29.5 printed on your boot (should be around 300-320). if the BSL of the two boots are the same you’re good to go

I have 3 pairs of 24.5 boots - their BSLs are 286,287, and 289.
The smaller numbers are Salomon and the bigger is Atomic. I had to move my heelpiece back when I got the Atomic boots.

Yup this, nailed it. Mondo is what size your feet see and BSL is the size the binding sees. Heads up, sometimes the printed BSL is slightly different brand to brand too even though it is nominally the same.

The best thing is to just learn how to read your bindings forward pressure and any other other adjustments the binding may or may not have

Depends on the boot. Most Dalbellos for example run a bit longer than a FT/K2 classic shell for the same size. A 26.5 Dalbello Il Moro is 307mm while a 26.5 FT is 301mm. I've gone between those and been fine but it depends where in the size range your bindings were mounted.

There's a little how to on adjusting the STH. You should check and adjust forward pressure and toe wing height as very small differences in the boot length or sole thickness can necessitate adjustment.
