Tips for a Brit skiing through your state

Hello Newschoolers,

Me and a mate (both from Scotland) are finally doing a dream trip from the Rockies to the coast and need some tips for the bit between Big Sky and Mt Hood.

We’ve potentially got three days between the two, and are looking at some Indy Pass places like Tamarack or Silver Mountain depending on whether we take the 84 or the 90 through to Oregon.

Are these the best options, or are there any other hidden gems/powder stashes along either route?

Any and all advice appreciated - plus ideas on places to stay/ear/drink.

pommerelle is kind of a hidden gem. it’s really small but if they got fresh snow it can be fun because of how minimal the crowds are.

bogus basin can be fun if there’s fresh snow or if your into park

brundage is gonna be the most consistent good snow in that area, tamarack is kinda hit or miss but their park has gotten a lot better over the past couple years so at least now there’s something to do if there isn’t fresh stuff

What ^ said is all facts. I ride sun valley which would be quite a pricy ticket but we’ve been getting hammered this season and conditions are really good right now. It would be about an hour north of twin falls if you go 84. If you have touring stuff you can tour up the resort in the morning and then hide out for an hour and ride the upper lifts all day haha. Also the backcountry is really nice and with snow depth you can go just about anywhere. Just another option!

Excellent - thanks for the tips - I should say, this is going to be second week of March and probably mostly resort skiing; maybe some touring if the going’s good…

I live at tamarack and it’s one of my favorite resorts. Epic park Epic snow Epic long runs, Easy to access side country that is hardly ever tracked up and i’ve only ever had to wait in line on a Saturday for about 5 minutes
