NoahsArkAnyone already going or planning on going next year? Anything I should know?
SivvyThis was my dream school then I saw Salt Lake. Now I do not go there
BigPurpleSkiSuitdid the Salt lake community college for geneds to U of U route. Don't listen to what everyone says, Utah is still really fun. If you want proximity to moutains and cool summer activities there isn't a much better option that I can think of.
theabortionatorI've personally never felt any draw to living in Utah. Just something that isnt my jam. I have a lot of friends who live/have lived there that like it. Maybe if Vail hadn't bought PC I'd have considered it. Idk
Seems fine just not my thing. I guess to a lot of other people it's a huge draw to go there.
eheathThe access to top tier skiing and snowboarding is unmatched IMO. anyone who uses salt lake city as their reason for not moving here is naive, people hear stories and come up with their own perceptions based on almost no data.
Obviously that doesn't mean you should ignore your feelings, but I get a little tilted when people shit talk a place they've never been to (not directed to you).
ColoradoDogfartim here rn, def a lot different than what your initial expectations are going to be, had I known what It would really be like idk if I would've chosen it, pm if you want details
eheathIm curious to what your expectation was and what your experience is, I went to the U 15 years ago so curious whats going on these days.
ColoradoDogfartlots of kids here nowadays are here solely to ski, and they know that. creates an environment where some of the better skiers act like the popular kids in middle school. Ive met a few homies but not nearly as many as i thought i would which I'm fine with as id rather have friends that are actually good people and nice instead of just shitty people. also seems to be extremely clicky, I'm not in one of these clicks and it feels awkward trying to meet people who are already in these groups as they don't seem super "inviting". def doesn't help that my major is a lot of the quieter awkward kids but this is j my experience so far. idk could also j be the adapting from hs to college phase
eheathyour loss brother, have fun in ???

Monsieur_Patateidk man, might be true on a random week day, but if you're trying to ski pow days or weekends, that easy access quickly turns into 3 hours stuck in traffic, either going up, or going down.
There's places where the mountains might be twice as far, but with less congestion you still get there twice as fast, which is what really matters when talking about access imo.
The Wasatch is by far the most crowded range I've skied, and it really impacts the skiing experience imo. Even when touring, unless I'm going to the oquirrh, there's no avoiving traffic at some point.
Great snow tho, too bad it's such a hassle to get to ski it.

CalculatorI’m looking for a school to transfer to to get my mechanical engineering degree and was considering UofU. I’m gonna have my associates in precision manufacturing and be pretty good with cnc machining and coding. Anyone have any info on the engineering department? Totally interested in any other relevant info about other schools as well.

mikemold thread bumpin but go to the U.
Like im born and raised here, am a salty crusty local pissed about the influx to skiing and the tiktokers. But you can find some of the best homies in the world here. You can start a career in skiing, or just be mellow and stoked to ski with the boys. There is always someone better than you, always some ikoner worse than you. Just accept it, love it and live chill.
There is so many cool people here, the non-mormon counter culture makes it feel like a small city.
take advice from @eheath
IdahoeMight not be as much of a thing anymore since the team got banned from airBnB for fucking up a house in Targhee, but even without the trips its still a sick crew to be a part of.
Profahoben_212lmao UNR freeride did the same thing at targhee. A fucking pipe burst in their shitter and it leaked down the walls. Airbnb said it was our fault and banned my co captain.
That and the vomit in the backyard snowbank
Idahoelmao sounds about right. I didn't end up going to targhee on that trip but from what I heard the DU kids showed up and started throwing eggs everywhere. seems like all the egg yolk stuck to the ceilings was the main issue. also maybe a broken window or something? can't remember but sounded like a fuckin blast
