Planning a ski trip with a couple friends from home and currently deciding between Mammoth and Snowbird. I’m familiar with Mammoth because I go to college in LA but I wanna explore Utah as well. Is the 4 hour extra drive to Snowbird worth it or should I just stick with Mammoth? Looking for good pow days and a good park, which I already know Mammoth has. Going in March.
I’m fairly confident that Snowbird does not have a terrain park. But the snow will be better this year. They are already posting more than 300” on the year.
I'm looking at booking the exact same thing at the moment. Maybe book hotels at both with free refunds and decide a few days before depending on new snow. If Snowbird gets a dump then it will be much better. If there's no new snow Mammoth for sure as it's got one of the best parks in the world. Snowbird's park is tiny with tiny features. It's really not even worth lapping.
Mammoth has been getting absolutely nuked with snow. I know utahs been getting some but not sure if they've gotten as much. If both have a ton of snow could be fun to go to the one you haven't been to. I've never hit snowbird, just Alta. I'm guessing it's got some similar stuff.
I'm hyped CA is getting the good. We're back in a dry patch in the PNW but at least we got the early season storms
if you want a park go mammoth. snowbird has no park this year, its not even on the trailmap. hard to say if itll snow or not. past isnt a predictor of the future (see last jan-feb in utah)
A good balance of park and all-mtn ripping = Mammoth dude. And with their snowfall totals this season, that would be a no-brainer for me. Snowbird is still ripping however but I don't think they even have a park this year, and for what its worth, its an absolute meat grinder.
