I have a question why do street skiers always seem to use 100+mm skis but park skiers usually go skinnier

well first of all wider park skis are becoming more accepted in general. people who chose to ride soft wider skis made by smaller manufacturers (E.g., vishnu, jet, deviation, on3p) are more likely to hit street since that’s what these manufacturers are associated with. wider skis allow for certain advantages in the rail-centric side of park / street skiing. thinner stiff skis (E.g., armada, k2, head, volkl) are more associated with hitting jumps and maintaining stability during landing.

I’m probably blind my bad, just what I’ve seen from watching some street parts recently

More ski surface to play around with, therefore it’s easier to balance on skinny hand rails with a wider base, but brands like line and armada skis are more based on park sking at a mountain where rails aren’t that skinny

It’s the weight and drag in air. That’s why comp skiers go skinnier. Pipe even skinnier because they want to be able to get on an edge quickly

I mean, aside from the actual benefits of wide skis or how fun they are to ride, the other thing is that they look cool, and one of the biggest components of street skiing is looking cool.

I have a thinner old armada model, and a wider edollo 2021 I think it is and in my experience the wider edollo ski is just more stable in air, on rails and everything, only drawback is its slightly heavier
