That being said, the number of people I see in chicago walking around in 1400$ mountaineering puffs when the closest thing they've ever seen to the outdoors is either an imax or millenium park makes this make sense. Gotta explain the stupidity of buying shit like that with 0 use for it somehow I guess.
I imagine people who get into techwear as fashion are just the richer, more walkier versions of people who lift their trucks. You don’t need it to go get your morning coffee and will never utilise 1% of what you’ve paid for. Everyone thinks you’re a dickhead except for the other dickheads you hang out with.
I like tech gear and mostly wear brands like Nanamica, Arcteryx, and wear Asics or Salomon trail runners. Full done up gorpcore kits look ridiculous but I see nothing wrong with wanting waterproof and cool looking tech clothes.
Coaching U18 Freeride drove me nuts the way kids talked. Then you ask them to explain and they give you an even worse response. Best form of birth control ever tho
Gorpcore blew my mind because it's like dressing as a Boulder dad who hasn't updated his closet since 2013. When I saw Salomon Xt-6's with gore-tex were the shoe of their choice I was even more mind blown. Granted a great trail running shoe in 2012 it doesn't come close to any modern trail running shoe for technology. I got a pair in my closet I used for hiking/trail running in High School. Might have to bring em back out to stunt on all the hype beasts.
