rojo.grandeFor me this would be a new ski maneuver, but I know a guy @weastcoat who might have a trick up his sleeve for you if u wanna turn em edgeless. And also 40-50 days of park skiing for any pair of skis is pretty normal, depending how hard you ride if they last longer than that it’s a bit of a miracle
edit: watching the vid you posted get new skis. The cores are rotted to hell and you might fuck up ur knees if the bindings rip out

weatcoastDid you take care of your edge cracks when they first started
evanballYeah I’m not surprised that they’re done but I feel like most people I know get much more life from their skis than just 40 days. Someone made a thread not long ago about how their factions lasted about over 100 days with minimal damage.
J-DunnweatcoastDid you take care of your edge cracks when they first started
How do you do that? Just with jb weld? I go through park skis like a f*g and all of my pairs end up looking the exact same as those while none of my friends do, no matter what they ride.........hate big cracks under foot. When that shows up I feel like your basically just doomed and the skis days are getting numbered

rojo.grandeWhoever wrote that lied to you. First off they’re factions, second they most likely can only straight slide rails and occasionally ski park if a pair of factions lasted more than a season
s.j.mitchellA mistake that some people make when sliding rails is engaging their edge upon landing on the rail/feature. This naturally compresses and degrades your edge, then your sidewall and core. Practicing using more of the base of your ski upon jumping on a rail and only engaging your edge when needed may prolong your ski lifespan
BradFiAusNzCoCaI think it was a guy on here named Tomi and he hits his edges with an angle grinder from tip to tail. I think he used to be a welder. I can tag him if anyone wants to pick his brain. I follow him on insta. He pretty much exclusively rides park and he skis a lot
dwt802Those are fucked your core is rotted if not shattered/cracked
J-DunnI go through park skis like a f*g
tootspaceLike a what now
TOAST.I'd pry that opening apart a little so I could get some g flex epoxy in there nice n deep. Hit it with a hair drier to make it more viscous and flow in even deeper, then clamp that sucker up with like 6 clamps and let cure for a day.
Should hold together for a few days. Repeat these steps every time the ski sits for a while and the core is dry.
I have a pair of shredditors on their 4th season that I've applied and reapplied gflex to and their still going. Binding will probably rip out soon but it's been a full season since the ski looked like OP's and it still going. I don't go big though so consequences of a binding pullout are small. *knock on wood*
rojo.grandeI dremel the shit out of my skis under foot, fade detunes around toe and hell back into my effective edge then detune high tip and tail. Angle grinder is a crazy move but there’s a few clips floating around in old TC episodes of Wesson doing the exact same thing
BradFiAusNzCoCaI really do think there is something to the harder the detune, the more the durability. I had some armadas (pre-Amer) that I took to a shop and asked them to detune. They went crazy. They were basically tubes underfoot and they lasted a ton of abuse until I pulled the edge out on a rock. No edge cracks. Kind of shocking with how often I skied rails on them. Probably 70 days of rails, at least, on them

rojo.grandeI had the factory detune on a pair of mags and further detuned them soon as they got in my hands
evanballdoctor said I’m type 2 actually

J-DunnDetuning sketches me out! Carving is fun! And maybe 50% of the time I ski it's raining or all ice......fuckin Ohio

tominiemenmaaMy Faction Prodigy 3.0X's have ~115 days on them and they're in better condition than any other ski (2x dollos, 1x thanos dogs, 1x Revolt95's, 1x wReckoner102's) I've had after 40ish days. Minimal damage is exaggerated, but there's still only one slightly bulging sidewall and even one edge without a single crack. Two of the four sidewalls miss parts of their edge. One 1cm and one 8cm. If someone wants to see them, I'm happy to upload some pics.
Cool story bro. My current pair is now 13 months & ~115 park days old. I pretty much ski park exclusively. You can check my level from my Instagram account, link below.
My edges are dulled round to a point where you couldn't hurt a baby's butt with them on tips, tails, (the part that doesn't touch snow unless you're buttering) and between the bindings. Slight detune under bindings. When breaking a new pair in, I dull the edges on every waxing. Other than that, they're sharp and get sharpened every now and then. My skis get waxed between five to ten days on the hill, whenever the wax starts to wear out.
👋
rojo.grandeWow you have way too much time on your hands with a literature report of a response like that.
“You can check my level from my Instagram account. Link below.” Laughable.
Bottom line:
faction across the board has a terrible rep. I don’t care what your personal experience is, the widespread general consensus is that they aren’t durable. Just because you have had a positive experience doesn’t take away from the fact that the majority of their users have not.
dwt802Good thing the skis shit the bed before I got to try unfortunately but fortunately
BradFiAusNzCoCaHoping these aren’t your new park skis you were just talking about in another thread
TOAST.nope this was their 4th season. I have another used pair I need to get mounted. hoping for another 3+ years of shredditors.
BradFiAusNzCoCaWhat are the new park skis?
TOAST.I was more referring to the new to me pair of shredditors that I'll be riding. damaged skis are much more fun to ride because you don't give a shit about cracking edges and such.
LemuelTo all y’all that have skis in rough shape like this, do you store them somewhere dry / warm? If you leave them out in the cold / in your car, any melted snow will get into your edge cracks where it will freeze and make it tremendously worse.
