Freestyle Skiing Videogame

I don’t know how many people I’ve talked to about this, but during the off season when you got nothing to do, it’s fun to resort to some videogames. I’ve been playing a decent amount of Shredders, a great game that only offers snowboarding.

We need a game that is centered around park skiing—not Shredsauce, not Steep, something new. There are so many people a game like this would appeal to, I’m just confused how no one has even bothered to make an attempt at one. Maybe there’s one in the works, but Shredsauce and Steep don’t suffice, and Shredders just doesn’t feel right as a skier. What does NS think?

It’s just crazy expensive—I love the game and the freeride feel but I wanna be able to shred an accurate park as well

I think the mechanics in shredders are also much better and just more realistic

Facts. We need like a open world game where the map is a ski resort and there’s like NPCs and stuff similar to skate 3. There could also be like crazy spots around the Map kinda like skate 3 along with a bunch of terrain parks

SSX on Tour goes hard for sure. I didn’t like how steep has no actual characteristics to the skis other than colour but ssx on tour actually has real skis that ride differently.

People commented "make skate 4" on every EA post for a decade. Thousands and thousands of people. EA only announced they had devided to make skate 4 after skater XL was doing well and tony hawk announced reboot.

Looks like prolly not enough money in the action sports these days. Not like the late 90s early 2ks where there were tons of them.

You can connect controller on pc through usb, mobile can support a controller but it doesn’t work right

I’m pretty sure shredders said they were gonna add skiing if there was enough demand. I email them monthly for it, shits so addicting i wish I would ski in it tho

It’s so bunk, when you rotate on axis it is stuck in a Lincoln loop and grabs don’t work. I really want it to be updated since my pc shit the bed and my laptop sounds like a commercial plane taking off when I play.

Honestly shredsauce just needs a major upgrade. Move it from unity to unreal engine and give the graphics and movements a refresh. Make the character more active while skiing, afterbang is automatic on landings, and adding off piste.

Used to absolutely shred ssx on tour as a kid one of my favourite games ever, I know you can play it on pc if you download a ps2 emulator i dont know how good it runs tho

idk what dlc you need, i just bought Japan and Alaska tickets with in game credits which you can get by completing challenges in the Alps. you dont really need any dlcs in steep, you can ski the xgames park for free in alaska anyway using helicopter tickets to land there

I remember there was a game called snow i think where you could ski and snowboard and they had real ski models and you could ski B&E inventaitionals x games joi and nine knights and open world on mountain you could play online. Pretty fun i remember

I will add a +1 for Shredders. I ended up picking it up a week ago or so and it scratches the same itch that Skate 3 did for me. I would make custom snow-style terrain parks in the Skate 3 park editor and Shredders reminds me of that. It's funny, there is a massive map in Shredders and all sorts of parks, but the first day I had it I spent hours just sessioning this small tube line that I could literally hit in real life.

Just needs a built-in park editor (you can place some objects but no more than 3 at at time) and skiing. There are modded maps on PC but I have not tried them yet and they seem cumbersome file-size wise.

I had Snow on PS4, it was sick. Being able to use real skis and the b&e connection was awesome and the map was just massive. So many cool hidden spots and a perfect mix of backcountry and park. Then they updated it and it basically broke the game and they stopped supporting it. Still my favorite skiing game but it’s so glitchy after that update it’s unplayable.

Any time I wasn't trying to beat objectives I would slap on the Elizabeths and just do steezy spins. If you would start your spin one way you could press the opposite direction and really slow them down. If I remember correctly each grab had a normal and tweaked version which I enjoyed.

I always played it on my older brothers gamecube. Used to bring it to freeride comps, gets the boys so fired up for comp day haha

people are SLEEPING on shredders. it ain't perfect but it's super fun, it has some great terrain and the controls are really dope

Wasn’t that so disappointing?? They had the everyone at the berrics posting and asking, all sorts of professionals pulling for Skate 4. It even trended #1 on Twitter for like a full day and nothing came of it.


I really wish I coulda been in my 20s during the 90s early 2k instead of the boring 20’s. Everything’s such a cheap corporate cash grab now a days.

It was kind of cool. Idk, I walked like 3 miles home to watch xgames once. I sometimes don't even watch it now. Everything is so saturated. But all those contests like B3, gravity games the first xgames.

Several snowboarding, bmx, dirtbike, whatever the fuck games. Idk it was cool.

Now even with everyone wanting that fucking game EA was like nah. Until they got jelly of the hype around other games. EA fucking sucks so hard anyway. Having to pay to play online if you buy a game used. Shitty cash grab def not giving the people what they want.

It's hard for me to gauge things sometimes though. When you're younger things are more interesting and magical. Then you get older and become salty about the world lol. Idk if things were better but I def think the vibe around actions sports had a better energy to it.

I probably will never get back into video games at this point. Not keeping a console with me or wanting to buy a new one, and playing the guitar when I'm home. Shits fun though. A few years ago roommate had red dead 2 and I played that.

Idk I can't really think of much for action sports games in the last 10 years that's been really exciting.

You’re absolutely right it had a better energy to it, and you’re right about it not being clear if things suck now or we’re just getting older and harder to amuse with shit like video games… mad funny I also replaced video games with guitar. I just realized one day that I’ve never been “proud” of anything video game related so why waste more than an hour tops on them.
