1000 skis anti hate.

Let me first say I have horrible internet so most of the time when I try to upload a picture it just says "obj" but if I get one to actually load I have to post right away otherwise it'll turn into "obj"

So vishnus, everybody loves them.
1000 skis for some reason was instantly labeled as a horrible ski.

You guys will have to take my word for it but I am very good at detuneing skis I do everyones skis that I know, even random kids from football or church. I only go from a little in front of front binding to a little ways back from rear depending on camber I'll do further or shorter and I've got it down to a science.

My wets have alot of edge missing and lots of base damage as well and I lost edge way before my sisters birthday which was a couple days ago last year.

1000 skis I have a little under twice the days on them per depth into season and they have five edge cracks total.

Conclusion why do they have a bad reputation I absolutely love these skis and I let a couple people try them this session and one is interested in them and another is already sold on getting them next year.

I can 720 and swap on rails. Haven't nailed my 270 on but I can 2 off anything. When I hit runs I'm skiing switch 80% of the time because trollhougen has such small hills you can look ahead quick to see where people are on the run then you can use the trees behind you as mirrors to where you are on the run.
I love nose pressing and aframes

They have a bad rep because they pretended to all get picked up by this mystery brand and then someone did a deep dive and found out they were just the owners of the brand (not really a shitty thing to do and I don’t hold them to it just kinda shady for no reason) and then started doing corny shit to sell the skis. They’re expensive so nobody is gonna drop money like that for park skis, when the alternatives are literally hundreds of dollars cheaper.

If they’re sick that’s awesome but I’m just not in the market for $800 park skis, same reason I’ve never owned ON3P. Maybe when they start to hit the used market but until then 🤷🏽‍♂️

Just to add to this, on3p are expensive but they have over a decade of reputation built up for being extremely high quality skis. I’m sure 1000s are nice but are they as nice as on3ps? Honestly I’m not convinced

To be fair, every new brand starts at "0" reputation. I agree that the skis are expensive (way to expensive for me to consider buying them, but i do think there is a market for them, and I would love to test the ski before commenting on the quality/performance.[/quote]

people that bought them prolly use their beater skis in the streets since there so expensive, i bet next season and even later this season there will be more

Every brand does start at 0 reputation, but they also start at way lower prices. Coming out the gate and selling your first park skis for $800 and then never posting any street footy of them (despite being some of the best street skiers ever) is just weird.

So people don't necessarily hate the skis they hate the price. I agree with that especially since they are definitely not on 3p and I wasn't even going to buy because of price but when the euro crashed this fall it was only 700$ for me and I really wanted to try them.

I think it really is just no rep for the brand yet. the skis do look fun af when I watch people ski them but like other people said, no street clips really and for the most part you only really see the people who run the company and their friends riding them. Also wasn’t trying to shit on you for your detune job in the other thread op

Like bro what’s the hell is that before sister birthday and then < 2(the before sister birthday) do you mean like you got all those edge crack in both skis on like a month of skiing? Seem to me your pretty hard on your skis what ever the skis is maybe you should ride a little smoother idk

but the reason vishnu works is
-the skis are fun, unique shape (and for me they’re pretty solide your experience may be different )

-the marketing is turn to the core skier by making street videos on YouTube seen by freeskier only (not TikTok vid seen by possibly none skier)

- he selling a "lifestyle" hard to explain how and what but yeah kid are buying "the Vishnu lifestyle" too kinda

I don't think The Bunch & crew realized how much they turned people off with their whole #health-gang, dance trip, mushroom induced, thrift store era. They're dope skiers but it was fucking annoying as hell to have try and watch their inside jokes and third eye bullshit. Now they just want consumers to buy into this "oh we're super professional ski engineers, climate activists, filmmakers whatever" thing and for me personally, it's just too late in the game for them to pass off this rebrand as sincere.

I have no problem with the TikTok shit because they're clearly just trying to grind out an audience (which is probably the right move at this point) but I'm interested to see where the brand will be in 5 years. For a group that changes up their style and mission so frequently, its hard to see this being a long-term thing.

The bases on the V’s look dry as fuck too which also isn’t great if you want your skis to last. I’m sure the 1000’s will last longer anyway but they also cost twice as much.


My current pair of wets have a full season of park skiing and have yet to edge crack. I meticulously debur my edges with a stone at least once a weekend, wax regularly and alternate right and left skis.

after owning so many pairs of skis I’ve come to the conclusion you can’t judge durability on “how easy the edges crack”. Dumbest thing ever. I’ve cracked edges on the third day of skiing a pair, and I’ve skied 25 days on a pair before I got an edge crack. All edges are the same and I’m convinced thickness doesn’t make a difference. Don’t believe me? I’ve cracked on3p edges far easier than Vishnu edges. And on3p has the beefier metal.
and then Icelantic edges way easier than Vishnu edges (even though they’re the same size).


They’re all the same but always behave differently from pair from pair, even if it’s 2 of the same pairs. Just how it is. All dependent on how you hit rails, what kind of rails you hit, the temperature of the metal, detuned skis, swap left and right skis, hit rails both ways, etc.


As for the 1000 “hate”, I can see where the skepticism comes from. In a world where HDPE/ durasurf sidewalls have been proven as the best (on3p, Vishnu, icelantic) the fact that you can spend 800 bucks on a ski and get something that’s cap construction is ridiculous. Shit falls apart so much easier and just does not hold up the same as it’s competitor.

I agree with the judging skis on edge cracks, edge cracks dont mean shit to me. However, some skis once you have an edge crack the edge will start pulling out much faster or even no edge cracks an edge pulling out. This goes for old amplids (does amplid still exist) and reckoners. Most skis ive owned id lose a little bit of edge and that would be it for a while, other skis you lose almost the entire edge once it starts going.

Just new and people don’t realize Åre skidfabrik has been around since the 90s. Same place RMUs are made. CMD used to be made there (like Elias Syrjä rode) and I’m pretty sure 1000 may use some of their old molds.

Basically people hate change and every company has an uphill battle in the beginning. They got a skier in the Olympics their first year and more people bought them than I expected. Just give it time.

I think they've been doing their climate activism stuff for a while now, I don't think they're jsut doing it for clout and to sell skis. For instance, a few years back LSM had a partnership/sponsorship with Nissan regarding their electric cars. Also, if you go through their videos, I think it's pretty clear that they've been steadily trying to increase their production value. If you were to watch Finito, interpretation, Color, and MFL, then that's pretty apparent. It makes sense that their focus has been changing over the past few years

I literally can't it's so annoying. Every time I type my words dissappear and it scrolls down like I'm hitting the enter button so I can't even see my words and it won't let me back up. Also if I try to quote it shoves everything into one paragraph so I hit enter to try and space it.

Very cool and fair thread. The pictures posted are not a typical experience for our skis, I am guessing you got edge cracks immediately (within a week or so) which is indicative of a bad ski. This is relatively uncommon for us but it happens, as it does with literally every other brand. In the future, if you get this type of damage to your skis quickly please hit me up and most of the time I will send a you a replacement single or a new pair if necessary.

I just tried some 180 keys and they are only a tiny bit stiffer little more camber less rocker but can still butter fine half the price slot more durable and look way cooler. Less pop for sure but also lighter. Conclusion get keys.
