Why can’t I switch spin well???

The past couple of days I have been trying to work towards switch 5 and get switch 3’s dialed. I have messed around with all sorts of footing and pop but can’t seem to have enough force to swing the 5 around. I normally go in with a wider stance a little shifted (because I spin left), and pop on the heels of my boots which barely brings me to 3. I am not sure what else to try. Tips?

Carve into it a bit more, tighten your core during the spin, and find a bigger jump!

Not trying the make this sound like a "gotcha" comment but hit the gym. Mentally take note of what your doing on your natural spins and take that to your unnatural. You don't need to get ripped but working out will oddly help with this and you'll have more control of your body.

i mean, going to the gym/being fitter is always a good idea but has absolutely nothing to do with this particular problem. the pool of people worldwide who have ever successfully done a switch 5 skews heavily to the scrawny side haha, it's a technique thing not a muscle thing

Yeah i agree, im saying it would help if you can only move your body one direction.

how comfortably can you ski switch down the mountain? Can you ski top to bottom?

When I first started trying sw tricks, I'd often hook an edge on takeoff. When I landed switch, I was often out of control going into the next jump or trying to slow down.

I didn't know how to use my edges properly. Once I became better at simply skiing switch comfortably and had a handle on using my edges to turn and slow down, it was way easier to jump.

I found that if I was spinning sw to the left, I'd be on the right edges of my skis, left edge off the ground tilted a bit up to prevent snagging on take off. Never had issues again after I figured that out.

heres the trick: you can bs a sw 1 and 3, but not a 5, when you pop ur gotta untwist yourself to set the spin, not have your lower body catch up to your upper in the air (which most people do w sw 3s)

when I first started doing switch 3s I didn’t realize I was doing them blendered so make sure your spinning towards the direction you look over your shoulder

this is a great tip. Now that I think of it, this is what I do when I do switch inverted stuff, but my sw straight spins have been jaanky and this is probably why...

blender is when you set/pop/takeoff your sw trick while looking over opposite should than the way your spinning.

If i was looking over my left shoulder skiing switch, and i did a left spinning trick, thats normal... But, if I wanted to do a blender left 360, I would be skiing into jump looking over right should. At initiation, Id be swinging my shoulders/body from right-shoulder visual field, to the left visual field.

This is a little harder to describe than visualize in a video, so just look something up... In my opinion, the name of blender comes from the way this looks when done correctly, as its like your shoulder/head is additionally spinning (looks cool and spinny like a blender blade choppin it up).
