Replying to What is Palisades Tahoe Management doing?
Yesterday was the opening day of the $65 million "Base to Base Gondola" (yes that is actually the name) to connect squaw and alpine. They hired Dillon Francis to play a set, had a big party to attract tourists event. Insane amount of people showed up.
Next day, the gondola doesn't even run. According to some insiders, they wont have gondola ready to operate until January due to testing and staffing. Meanwhile, Red dog chair is still being rebuilt and is more important in terms of skiable terrain that it allows access to including access to the only other lower mountain lift, resort chair, not including KT. Red dog construction also doesn't let Exhibition run which has access to some hidden terrain on pow days.
A positive note, theres a new experienced park groomer who made a sick Belmont park set up which is the only park right now (better than any set from last year), lifties set up the ropes in the morning today just to have management tell them they don't have enough staff to run the lift that day so it closed. Lot of staffing issues due to housing, which will always be an issue that management has yet to face.
I feel like management is dropping the ball on what could be a sick start to a season. Lack of planning over the summer by not meeting construction deadlines to open the resort as it should have. All easier said than done.
End rant. Can't complain about the snow pack.
