I just got a pair of ON3P Jeffrey 102s mounted -2 from center. My last pair was a pair of Kartel 108s from 2016 mounted recommended at -4.5 from center.
I skied one day on the 102s and they were a blast in the small pow patches and off piste and anywhere that wasn’t groomed. Very sturdy and poppy and playful at the same time. Butters are super fun and they’re great on rails. On cat tracks and hard pack/more groomed snow I found that my ski was getting away from me. I feel like I was fighting to hold an edge, or that my ski kept catching edges. Like it was sliding away from me while trying to carve or turn. With my old skis I felt like I had full control over my ski and could turn very easily and keep my skis parallel at all times in any conditions just by shifting my weight.
Is this a matter if me being used to my old skies (the only ski I have skied on for 7 years) or did I mount them too close to center? It is it my skiing ability? Or do I just need to get more days on this new ski to get the hang of it? I am an advanced skier and have been hitting the slopes for 20 years. I loved the Jeffreys everywhere, just not on snow where I needed to hold an edge. It was quite frustrating. Can anyone shed some light as to how i can get over some of this buyer’s remorse I am feeling?
