Fucking Snowbasin wanted 200 today if you didn't have Ikon/MC or a pass.
Are Aspen or Deer Valley over 3 yet? Vail? Who will be the first to get there? I have to think next year someone will.

Jemsonly at normal mountains which I have grown to dislike
theabortionatorWhat's considered "normal mtns" everywhere is starting to charge $$ these days. Even the smaller places have upped their prices and gotten rid of the deals.

Not sure this counts jacking it up just for 1 day but probably what Vail and Big Sky and those places were waiting for to change the first number on a day pass.
theabortionatorMeh. We should jump right to 500. Skiing is the experience of a lifetime. Seems reasonable considering skydiving costs around that and you're just jumping out of a plane and paying to not die. Sounds pretty meh too me.

WoFlowzHV is charging 102$ rn for 7 runs and 700ft of vert
olddirtyYo Flowz they still not checking passes there or they got RFID now? I remember a few years ago I went to the valley and didn’t even bother getting a ticket. It was the same as Bristol until recently

BradFiAusNzCoCaCame here to post this. $309. That’s absurd. That’s 3/5ths of a Loveland season pass. Hell that IS a powderhorn season pass.
But I mean honestly, if you compare a local pass like Loveland to ikon pass - you can see where that extra $300,$400 is going. Huge difference in infrastructure. I’ve never been to snow bowl but I’ve been to resorts with same owner and I can’t imagine it’s worth $309.
coronaThe big question is why are ski ticket prices so damned high?
Another thread had photos of ski ticket prices from ~15 years ago and, accounting for inflation, the prices have more than doubled (I think I got that right).
Why?
Over that same time period electricity prices have mostly matched inflation, salaries have mostly matched inflation, fuel has fluctuated a lot but mostly matched inflation.
At the same time, lots of the independently owned hills haven't shot up that much. My local hill is $41 for night skiing, 15 years ago it was about $30-35. So pretty well tracking inflation.
What's been the big change?
SkiBum.Ski area dynamic pricing could be a game changer in the industry. I know it’s been going on a few years now, but if analytics match up and demand stays high this could pop some serious ticket prices.
Now, how many people are buying a day ticket, day off, at peak price and capacity? Not a lot, but there are some.
BigPurpleSkiSuitI heard on good authority that there are still significant amounts of day tickets being bought at the bird
PeppermillRenoWith good reason. Its only a major city with direct flights everywhere plenty of people know folks who live there and its better lift serviced terrain than any resort on the planet. And it gets the most snow.
No shit if you aren't one of the 99.9999% of SLC residents who buy a season pass to Alta/Snowbird and like skiing you might buy a day ticket there. Even if you ran out of Ikons it might be so good you can't say no all the homies are out etc.
\
It was awesome being in Utah in early December with full coverage and skiing on every lift at Alta/Snowbird my 4 Mountain Collective Days BC the Ikon folks were preserving their days. They weren't wrong either to wait and save them I missed the really deep stuff.
ski.schoolpeppermill RENO??

PeppermillRenoThose cunts at Vail cancelled my employee pass when I was unable to find housing after driving across the country to work for them. Fuck off.
