Fucking Snowbasin wanted 200 today if you didn't have Ikon/MC or a pass.
Are Aspen or Deer Valley over 3 yet? Vail? Who will be the first to get there? I have to think next year someone will.

theabortionatorMeh. We should jump right to 500. Skiing is the experience of a lifetime. Seems reasonable considering skydiving costs around that and you're just jumping out of a plane and paying to not die. Sounds pretty meh too me.
armchair_skierI think the day pass will stay at a price that pressures people into just buying a multi resort seasons pass.
So in order for day pass prices to jump to 300 season passes need to jump to 900-1000.
PeppermillRenoIts not Rob Katz fault its the people who buy his pass's fault.
Gnar_Shralp406Big Sky mid season with tram access.

SamuelForsgrenThats fucking crazy Åre is the most expensive here in Sweden and its like 50$ for a day pass.
PeppermillRenoAll I know is that people who dare to purchase and Epic pass or Ikon are the scum of the earth and are killing every ski area and community.

Eheath should be in here soon to laugh at and mock people who actually buy day tickets because they didn't buy the pass in the summer. How dare someone decide last minute they want a day on the slopes.
PeppermillRenoYeah.
Definitely sucks for kids who's parents don't ski can't see many/any of them forking out for season passes if they aren't buying ones for themselves. Those 2-3 days a year families will now ski zero.
But this is what people want all this Epic and Ikon hate is bs. Other people participating in the sport is the worst thing in the world it should be only them etc etc. Not that supply is exceeding demand and these places need to build more lifts and lodges and expand and all that.
I hadn't been to Alta and Snowbird in 15-20 years the infrastructure hasn't changed at all ZERO new terrain the ancient soviet era buildings are the same nothing new has been built and the lodges and food are trash I heard the hotels at both places are disgusting. Put some new fucking lifts in and build another base area or just make another resort connect to the BCC hills. Tell National Forest Service to get lost trees grow back quickly if humans stop using the land.
Jemsnot sure why anyone bothers buying into that shit in general
eheathThe terrain off the tram is fucking awesome, I used to love taking tram laps at BS. It’s sucks it costs extra and is always busy now, but downplaying that terrain is pretty egregious.
Jemssorry it’s not worth paying $80+ to hit the tram probably once
c-friesBig sky last year was $340 on some days with tram access included. Literally $240 plus a $100 add on if you wanna get to the peak. Fucking fucked.
how do we stop this
SurfaceIsdurablego to the east coast get ya self a day pass at mount snow slide on some ice all day only for 60 bucks bro
WoFlowzHV is charging 102$ rn for 7 runs and 700ft of vert
olddirtyDo they still not check passes? Usually went there for free couple years back
PsychicMigrationIt sure the last time you went to mount snow because it’s not $60 it’s probably about double
SurfaceIsdurablePayed 80 for a day pass on Saturday not a big difference lol
PsychicMigrationIt’s the very start of the season in New England right now that’s going to go up a whole lot it’s 135 window and 108 for mid season if you buy online. Take your pick but I definitely know if you ski 10 days a year it’ll make it well worth it.
PeppermillRenoYeah its cool that they keep raising season pass prices because as long as day tickets go up more that means its a good deal and cheap and they are hooking you up...

WoFlowzit’s all RFID as of this year
Turd__AuthorityDon't you also have a pass lol? Do you not realize many of those resorts utilize the passes as their season passes?
But sure lemme willfully pay extra money I don't need to. That's like flying first class just because. Don't forget liftopia is practically useless now too. That used to be a reasonable option for day passes.
olddirtyDamn :( Bristol go the same thing now. Twas good while it lasted
BrandoComandoHomewood is asking $279 for same-day tickets during peak season. Absolute rip-off. It's the last straw before that place goes private
theabortionatorThat sucks so bad. I wanted to get a few more days in but think I got 3 in my last season in tahoe. Had a couple of comps and then had some free ones with my dp pass. Didn't get to use many of them or any of my Boreal comps that year but was happy to get to Homewood. Place is really sick. Got a few of the snowmaking/grooming crew out from Northstar on some of the comps at least. They hadnt been there either.
Whats the plan? Just charge more for a deason pass because it's private? Not too many small hills with cheap tickets left when they turn. A few more damn it's sad to see.
BrandoComandoIt's such a sweet little mountain. It gives Heavenly a run for its money with views of the lake. One of the last non-corporate hills in the area too.
But they haven't invested much into snowmaking or lift infrastructure. Half the mountain is rarely open because coverage is rough. They aren't on a mega pass, and increased traffic along 89 has made it a huge PITA to get to on weekends. No weekender wants to drive through Palisades traffic to ski Homewood. For all these reasons and more, visitation has been plummeting in recent years.
IMO, it would be the perfect opportunity to be the cheap, family destination in Tahoe. Be the chill local resort in North Lake. Undercut the competition and lean on your views of the lake and low crowds. You'd get tons of business.
Instead, the owners are trying to privatize the resort for local homeowners. They're raising prices. If nobody buys tickets, they can bring it to their board and say "Hey look, nobody is coming here anyways. Let's go private". It's such a bummer.

Not sure this counts jacking it up just for 1 day but probably what Vail and Big Sky and those places were waiting for to change the first number on a day pass.
olddirtyYou realize this really is a rich mans sport after your parents stop buying season passes and the college deals go away. Can barely afford to ski now.
