Was the new Bunch movie one giant troll post from them and everybody involved? How did that win video of the year, theres barely any skiing. The angles and sound FX were by far the best i’ve ever seen in a backcountry part but most of the skiing was them straight lining I was so bored the hole time. I feel like this is a teaser to see how people react for when they're actual video drops.

If I made a thread everytime I didn't love a video, eheath would definitely have banned me for shit posting.

It's a dope video. Some sick skiing, some sick cinematography, editing and production value. I'm hyped for them. It made me want to go touring.

Editing and cinematography are better than anyone else out there, no question. Fav shot was mangos flip on the natty qp that was all time

Definitely interesting to see the boys release a movie with 0 street though…I kinda miss when the bunch was a scrappy lofi street crew, but it’s also cool to see them grow. I’m starting to see some of the creativity from street translate into their free ride skiing, but I still think it still has a way to go. A lot of the lines in this could easily be stomped by some dude from Alta nobody has heard of. I’m also still not sold on drone footage, that first segment didn’t really do it for me. I’m more of a fan of projects like love you too for sure.

definitely made me want to go touring in the backcountry with the homies though, seems like they are having a blast out there!

Y’all are nuts this movie is sick.

Actually a pleasure to watch. The visuals of the landscapes, timed with the music selections, almost give the feeling of how trippy it is to be in those landscapes in real life.

then you have the trippy old school “Apocalypse Snow” type vibe. Not taking themselves all serious like most ski films these days. But you can clearly see the passion for skiing and life

also sick they are touring for a lot of the shots. Putting in work, showing people that you can put on some skins and go fucking do it!

maybe I’m just old and dumb, I dunno. I’m inspired to get the camera back out this season though!

It’s definitely experimental. I don’t really understand the scenes where they talk. I think the film can exist without those but the skiing and zones look fun and it is entertaining to watch.

I wish instead of all the realski videos they did they would have taken that time to do some really sick full length street videos. The realski edits were good, but I feel like they could have made them better without the constraints of x games. Hopefully they made some decent money from xgames tho.

I loved it. Unbelievable cinematography. But best is that they seem to be at one with the nature, humble attitude wins me. I dont really like the vibe in most freeride movies that says “look how good we are skiing this super hard terrain, we are dominating nature”. This is why I prefer to watch street movies that are more about having fun with what you’ve got. and the bunch kinda bring the street spirit to the backcountry

The cinematography and editing, sfx, song choice, artistic direction and everything of that crop was literally peak, all time editing easily. The skiing was pretty fine, it wasn’t insane or anything, but also I don’t think it needed to be that good as that wasn’t the focus at all IMO

Would’ve been better as movies for sure, but I respect that these guys are really trying to build lasting ski careers for themselves. Getting paid to ski is an insane opportunity not many people get

Tbh I really enjoyed that the skiing was mellowed out just because I'm not really a fan of their whole swerve thing. Beautiful cinematography and great concept. Overall piece of art rather than a pure ski film.

Yeah my thoughts exactly. They use skiing as a mechanism to portray their artistic vision.

Like this film actually shouldn’t have won any ski film awards as I feel like it barely fits into that category. It should be nominated against other short films or artistic films, same way Clayton vilas “nerve” is.

I hope this doesn’t sound like a diss I just see it as something completely different than something like magma or eat the guts.

doesn't the word "film" in "ski film" by itself carry a notion of art? If it is only about skiing wouldn't it be a documentary or sports television :)

Not really. Ski movies have been coming out for what, 30 years? I can only think of about 3 that stand out in terms of breaking free from the formula and focusing way more on artistic vision and using skiing to express it rather than applying artist vision to filming skiing.

Like a ski movie historically is just a movie that shows you skiing, not a movie *about* skiing, kinda subtle difference in words but I feel like it’s extremely evident when you actually compare them

Nyjah's new edit as well as the new supreme movie (1 hour long) were nonstop banger clips basically start to finish with like 3% b-roll and that was pretty refreshing. 'Cohesion' had a similar formula and that was sick, big ass rails with tech tricks for 6 minutes straight, loved it.

Nerve, MFL, Cowboy (I think that’s what it’s called, the one with Sean jordan and a cowboy, it’s like 2 minutes long tho) and maybe you could also consider for lack of better in that category
