Anyone Been to Acadia National Park in Maine?

We are planning to visit in the Fall - If you have been there before, any suggestions?
-Any must see spots
-Best trails
-Good restaurants
-Breweries
-Times to avoid any traffic or busy hours

precipice and beehive trails for sure. The nesting perigines may clear out by the time you go. Atlantic brewing and fogtown are good.

I went as a kid so parents made the decisions. I dont even know if thunder hole is in the park but I remember thinking that shit was cool. Place was pretty. We camped. Id go back some day. I bet @1337 knows things

Anemone Cave is well worth seeing. For some reason the park service removed it from their maps and took down signage but it is still legal to visit.

If you're a climber there is some pretty decent rock climbing.

Eat lobster. Lots of lobster.

Highlight of my trip there was getting up super early and hiking from our campsite up Cadillac mountain to watch the sunrise. Saw most of the sunrise from like 3/4 of the way to the top which was much cooler than watching it at the top with hundreds of other people. Would definitely recommend.

This. All the trails are good though with really pretty and unique sights. There's a nice sandy beach near beehive trail. It's pretty cool just to drive the windy roads and look at the views. It can get really foggy for sure.
I don't like Bar Harbour. Way too busy and overpriced, basically a resort town. Blue Hill is a nice town about an hour away that's more chill and there's a nice hike there too.

Stay at mound desert campground have to book January 6th I think. theres a dock where you can tie up kayaks and canoes for free. If you go out at first light there will be lots of seals that will come and hang out with you as well as porpoises. They sometimes will get close enough where you could touch them from the boat and will chase you around. Place is the best on the island although blackwoods and seawall are cool too. You can swim in Sargent pond which is on the ridge of sargent mtn and offers best southern views of the ocean. Champlain Mountain has the best ocean views in my opinion but faces to the east. Bubbles are worth it but go up from the lakeside not the parking lot since its super steep it makes it way more fun. Great head is a nice walk for something easier. If you like to bike then hit around the mountain carraige road loop which has the best views. lots of people also bike the park loop in the mornings which is 28 miles.

Save the trip for November. The park is empty and Precipice is a lot more enjoyable of a hike when its covered in ice.

Sunrise on Cadillac Mt is epic if you can wake up early enough. The park does get super busy in the summer months though so spring or late summer is best. If you rock climb definitely hit Otter Cliffs. Also in your way in or out stop in Bar Harbor, touristy but worth checking out. Cadillac Mtn Sports is a cool store, Bar Island is a fun walk out on the sandbar at low tide

+1 to this! Hadn't thought about this in years but this post just unlocked a memory for me.

Also, a little basic/boujee/expensive, but you deff need to go to Jordan Pond House for lunch or brunch one day and get the popovers. A quintessential part of any Acadia trip IMO

Any tips for the cave? Getting there, type of footwear, what not to do...etc

Honestly it was when I was a super little kid, but I'm pretty sure I just wore sneakers. I remember it being important to bring a flashlight tho! So you could shine it in the little tide pools and see the anemones

For hikes coastline between sand beach and otter cliffs is super fun. Wonderland trail, ship harbor are good easy hikes (more like walks) and Gorham mountain as well. Other then that If you stay on the carriage roads the coolest spot for biking is to do around the mountain for views. Aside from that around eagle lake and the Amphitheater are also very fun. If you want to park at the Jordan pond house it gets very crowded so go early. The park hosts a milky way festival in the fall which might be something to plan around or go for. If you cant go to mount desert campground do the state ones because the other private campgrounds are nowhere as nice and cost astronomically more.

beehive is fun and all I remember was we ate at a fancy restaraunte near the butt mountains and hiking cadillac to get sunrise photos. There was a spot where cruise ships came in and we got to walk where the tide went up during the night. Also thuderhole was cool and we went biking somewhere
