December boulder trip advice

I am staying in boulder for a week in December from the 17-24th to visit some schools and hoping to ski for 5 days. Im from Maine and ski mostly park but hoping to do some other stuff too cause its my first time leaving the east. I am down to do some bigger day trips but hopefully not drive 3-4 hours every day if possible. Heard good stuff about A basin and have half-off tickets there but heard the park isn’t great and not sure if I can bank on the rest of their terrain for mid-December. Also not sure if I should go much to Eldora cause I’ve heard mixed stuff. If anybody is from there and has any advice on where I should go knowing I don’t have epic or icon currently and the terrain is probably limited for December it would be greatly appreciated.


I know there are a couple of other threads on this but was looking for some advice on places that are easier for transportation because I can't drive myself out there.

Eldora will have their Woodward park up and you can bus from boulder. They have a good park each year, and getting better. Not the biggest features but should have a legit park to spend a day hitting rails and a small/medium jump.

Otherwise, you could look into the Bustang or whatever they call the bus on I-70. key/breck/copper are all within 1 hr 45 min and should have good park skiing.

so your going half way across the country on a ski trip disguised as a school tour. Do you have a car? are you flying. Seems like I would focus more on finding out about the University then skiing especially if its actually something your going to consider. Sure go ski but not every day. Your gonna spend a ton of time around that area I'd probably figure out if you like the physical area you'd live in.

Pretty much this. There is no way you are going to be able to look at schools in CO and ski at the same time.

To the OP are you just looking at CU Boulder or schools in Denver as well?

yeah was hoping to do both. Staying at a friend's place and having access to a car there I just won't be able to use it very often. was hoping to do 2-3 days of school visits and 4-5 days of skiing if I can.

Solid plan I Lowkey hated visiting schools and couldn't see myself doing that most of a whole trip

Grew up in Kennebunk and now live in CO. Abasin is a blast but absolutely not for park. I'd recommend Copper but it's also been a decade since I've stepped foot in one.
