Rewatched like 5 times. This might be my fav solo edit ever. Trying to think of anything that competes but I can’t at this moment. He is so well rounded, there is no facet of skiing that hunter is not elite at, brings style to everything, and goes absurdly big. Creativity isn’t lost in this edit either, the moving uhual wallride is brilliant, I know we all have probably dreamed of doing something like that, but it didn’t take a Red Bull private build for hunter to get it, just a homie and a camera and some cash for a rental. Real go-getter vibes. The filming and editing was a treat, just everything about this video I love. Hunters trick section would look just as good with a gopro hero 25 or drone shots but I like the way he prefers his film to be shot with a VX and minimal long lenses. It’s just really cool to see Red Bull type quality skiing with some added swag and incredibly tasteful filming. His street spots remind me that he cares about the core of freeskiing and makes an honest effort to get quality street shots, while also hucking meat in a perfectly manicured pipe. Ofcourse the cherry on top, THE triple. The biggest trick I think I’ve ever seen. Not on some mathematically engineered saas-fe spin bot park, but a random slushy backcountry jump in the middle of nowhere, access only by hike. The song choice is authentic as well, not overthinking it at all, just classic “I like the way this sounds so I will put it in my edit” vibes, which I’ve always loved about a hall and hunter videos. Idk, the heaviness and raw passion of this project combined with a genuine artistic effort in terms of editing and VFX makes this such a generational project. Hunter and a hall have been so active in the film scene, refusing to stick to mundane training routines of US ski team park and pipe athletes, it is quite literally a duo of American dollos. Whether it’s a concrete butter pad on a sunny day somewhere in Utah or the top of an x games run, you can always find hunter (or ahall) bringing their a game, skiing passion and skiing talent always produce something amazing.
I love this project man, shit was mad good, had to write out my thoughts.
