spend the money and buy boots that actually fit on your feet

There is no easy quick and clear answer. It depends on a number of factors that only a good bootfitter will be able to assess and solve by seeing you in person and changing things about the boots or your setup. You could need new insoles, liner molding, shell molding, foot bed grinding, the boot may not fit you properly, etc etc. You won't know for sure until you go to someone who knows wtf they doin. If your user name has anything to do with where you live then I bet there are a lot of qualified boot fitters near you.

Also keep in mind that bootfitting is an art and everyone does it differently. So if you end up at 3 different bootfitters that have good reviews and experience, don't be surprised if they recommend 3 different ways to approach your problem. Chances are they arnt wrong, as there are many ways to adjust boots to fit your feet.

Do some research find a good boot fitter in your neck of the woods and go, find someone reputable not some rei bullshit
