Just went street skiing for the first time any tips

Just hit a lil park by my house last night and had a good time on some amphitheater style grass steps/stair sets

didn't try anything crazy cuz I just went out alone for like an hour

any good tips for not dying/making things smooth

just keep doing it, it'll help you get a feel for it and find out what you should do and bring, like water or maybe even salt etc. then you'll be more prepared if/when you want to tackle bigger harder stuff

overall I’d say be respectful- clean up your spots and if you get kicked out don’t be rude.

looking for spots where it’s already hilly can be nice for having natural speed.

wearing a helmet is a bonus

Hell yea :) goin back there today with my sibling and probably some homies too!

dope, yea at the spot I went to I saw some kids were sledding so probably gotta take down anything I build up so none of them launch it, I consider myself a leave no trace master and will fight litterbugs lmaoo

its actually a pretty sick spot, it’s on a big hill and it’s got stone walls, couple handrails and like some amphitheater style steps, I’ll get some pics of it today

i always got that strap on me too, can’t fuck around with another concussion

You always need more speed than you think. You’ll see a spot with some natty speed and 90% of the time it’s not enough

not exactly a street veteran myself but a few things i've learned:
bring plenty of water, always good to stay hydrated
if you don't have drop-in, bungee, etc then a few pallets can sometimes do the trick.
spots don't have to be big or intimidating. i personally enjoy seeing tricks done on smaller spots if they're creative/stylish
if you're filming, definitely a good idea to have two cameras, even if one of them is only a phone.
don't be hard on yourself if the spot doesn't work out or if you don't get the trick. in my experience, there's a lot of trial and error involved in street skiing.

i think it's a good idea to destroy your takeoffs so that pedestrians using the stairs don't get annoyed
