Hoes in all sorts of different area codes

Every single day I get some random ass calls from places to my USA number... Almost always between about 7:30am and 9am pacific time. Even if I pickup, every single one of these calls just doesn't even respond. It's just quiet on the other side and the call just ends like 8 seconds later.

Usually 3 or 4 calls. Sometimes from the same number. Is this normal? Motherfuckers, I'm losing my beauty sleep.

My theory is that if you get spam call and nobody is there, they're simply verifying your number is real so they can sell it to someone else.

IDK what apple is doing these days, but google lets you block all spam calls, its getting better at blocking spam texts too. I used to get 3-5 calls from my phone number area code every day, hasn't been an issue since ive used googles call screening. I've had my phone screen calls I don't want to, but like once in the last 3 years, worth it for convenience of not having my phone ring randomly throughout the day.

Dude, these are spam calls. My friends and family members have been getting calls and texts daily. Don’t pick up and block them. If you have an iPhone change your setting to ignore unknown numbers, it’s been amazing with that setting activated.

It’s weird that your spam has check marks next to them. That’s how I usually differentiate between real and fake ones in the call log

Never noticed those check marks, I have no idea what they mean. Apple just adds stuff and doesn't explain anything..

We just had an election the fundraising and robo calling was absolutely relentless. I get calls from “your area” asking if I still own some address I’ve never heard of, whatever scam of the day from “IRS department” super annoying

I honestly want a scammer to call me.. so I can absolutely waste the fuck out of their time for my own entertainment. Call it a weird hobby if you will, but If theyre trying to scam me, they're not scamming someone else out of their hard-earned. It ain't much but it's honest work.

I once had a scammer on the phone with me for like 35 minutes. He thought he was actually getting me to buy google gift cards or whatever as I just sat down on the couch and chilled while trying to tell him stories about my nephew that I dont have.

Another time, some dork started messaging me on whatsapp (which is tied to my Japanese number and is usually pretty hard to scam) attempting to sell me a domain I already owned for 200$ lol I actually haggled him down to 30$ over about an hour of negotiation and then told him to get bent.

Haven't been getting many recently but also nice that I switched my number last year to a west coast number so at least I don't get them at fucking 5 am.

I lost my storage unit a couple years back in the middle of shit tons of spam calls. Place called twice, in the middle of all the spam and home turf area code which all the spam numbers had. Was working both times grave shift. Didn't lose that much but was pretty bummed. Fuck the spam. The return does not seem high on those things, fuck off and go away.

I sure hope no one has my old home land-line number. It's my go to generic number when a phone number is required and I don't want the ensuing spam.

Most spam I get is Medicare for whatever reason. Then AT&T spams me with direct TV ads. Kinda fucked your phone provider is the source of 50% of the spam calls you get.

Most of the time it's just like URGENT MESSAGE FOR YOU! and when I open it it just says CONGLATURATIONS! WE ARE YOUR PHONE CARRIER!

For awhile, it was almost exclusively Asian women on WhatsApp texting me and asking if I was x. When I would say no, they would ask if I was from my home state (my area code on WhatsApp is my home state) and say they were going to take a trip there. It was really odd.

*also, I never got any of these with my Aussie, Kiwi, or Finnish numbers. It was only American. I’ve got my Finnish sim in now and no spam

Yea I get the "Hey it's been awhile, what's up?" It's pretty clever because it could very well be an old friend but I just ignore. They are just fishing trying to figure out if phone numbers lead to a human. When you respond they distribute your number for scams and sell your info.

Idk about clever, that just means they're abusing the fact that most people lack critical thinking skills.

relative to the standard car warranty message or phone call from Russia this leans towards the clever end of the spectrum. I get legit texts like that all the time from old friends/acquaintances.

Everyone on our park crew has a different area code. Prolly been that way a lot but i don't pay attention and somebody pointed it out
