Gripwalk

Got some new boots last year and I hate the gripwalk because I can't slide 50 feet across linoleum anymore. How do I get rid of it and still have my boots work?

Yeah, they probly would, but I don't think it's worth 45 bucks to slide linoleum. I could probly just get some plastic and make a piece that fills out the bindings right?

you could do whatever you want but fucking with your boots and bindings rarely ends well

I could fabricate plastic blocks to screw onto my boots but my time is worth $50-60/hour and it would take me an hour just to go to the plastics shop to procure the requisite material before I even set my hands on tools. Doesn't make sense.

If you're just looking for a project or would really enjoy doing it by all means go for it!

Yeas was shocked boot’s incompatibility to older bindings, however $50 can easily address issue

Swapped mine for boot skiing. I can run down stairs fast as fuck in regular ski boots and have never had problems climbing shit. Gripwalk is for jerries that take it one step at a time and people that ski 50/50 touring setups 100% of the time (basically the same thing).

Also the grip walk takes up more space so shoving plastic in there will only make it squeeze the boot harder and convert any binding to a 30 din release value.

I have grip walk on non grip walk tyrolia attacks, the guy who mounted my set up did a din test and set them to be the same but even after that I still had to raise my din bc i was constantly coming out. Eventually I found the right din settings and I only pop out when I take a hard fall. Its really not as big of an issue as you would think but It might depend on the binding.

Makes sense on a binding that you can change the height of the afd. Converted my pivots to gripwalk afd's but before I put alpine soles on my gripwalk boots I had to deal with it and there was rubber sitting right on the afd since the plastic on those is further foreward and the afd does not slide. I knew that so I was somewhat careful until the new afd's arrived.
