Multi day ski tour

I want to tent, have most of the camping gear except for a tent. I don't have any BC exp but backpack a lot in all types of weather, including snow, so the camping part won't be a huge issue I don't think. Im taking avy 1 this spring and plan on going touring a good amount after that. Im abt to get daymakers but will prbly get a touring specific setup next szn. Not sure abt how many ppl and how big our days will be, planning on figuring that out in this szn and next

Well you’re gonna need a 4 season tent. You can find them used for like $400-$600 region. I highly recommend getting one with a covered entrance if you’re only setting up camp once. If you’re moving to a new spot everyday, just get the smallest lightest thing possible.

daymakers will get you started, but for almost the same price you can find used touring gear. I saw someone is selling backlands with kingpins for $500 on this site. You’ll def want a pin boot too.

the toughest thing (apart from the physical part) on a trip like this, is getting and keeping your gear dry.

Get all the touring gear and get really comfortable using it before you even consider using it in multi day trips/avalanche prone territory. Get boots dialed, get used to putting skins on, ripping them off, how you like to layer etc. I use different pants gloves and shell touring cause bagginess will only get in the way. Shouldn't have any cotton touching skin, merino wool is nice and won't smell but there are cheaper stuff that will still wick sweat.

Skis I use primarily for touring are BD Helio Carbons in 95 and 105 widths with kingpins but do your own research for skis; everyone has their preferences. Plenty of decent tech bindings, stay away from Dynafit Beasts no matter how good the deal is. Stay away from frame bindings; some people on here might defend them but chances are those people have never used a pin binding. Night and day.

Obviously also take an actual avalanche education course before going anywhere with avalanche conditions, good to go with a friend, and if possible, a local who knows the area. Huts are nice and can be a lot cheaper and more comfortable than buying a tent but tents are great if you wanna do it a lot or have a friend with one. Winter camping in a tent I like to sleep with my liners in my sleeping bag so I don't have to deal with them being frozen in the morning. I use an REI 10ºF bag and have a sea to summit liner that claims to lower a rated number by 20ºF. Used that combo with wool base layers in -10ish and was hot as balls but it's better to be able to remove layers than be cold as fuck.
