Why don't skiers do more ski specific tricks

I've seen this a lot more lately I can't lie but still not a very common thing. I feel like skiers try to ride like snowboarders. I see so many features that involve like ollies and 50-50, and stuff like that. And when they aren't riding like boarders, the are just spinning so fucking fast for no reason. Like we have two skis, fast slide and backslide aren't the only ways to use them like why tf does nobody do broken grinds and shit. I feel like you could do some inline grinds as well, there's gotta be a way to do like a fuckin acid grind on skis.

Also I know hella kids grab safety because 90% of the time when they post clips to the gram or in an edit it's like their first time doing a trick but like there is no excuse for me to not see a single truck driver grab in 3 years that is literally communism.

I'm being dramatic but I feel like everyone watched andy parry do his wizard shit and was like "yooo that was crazy" and nobody ever tried to explore that stuff further and just let it rot and die like what

Look at Mat Duf bro it is literally insane to me that this type of grind isn't a common thing it looks sick

I think especially new wave tries to ski like you would snowboard. It is what it is. Skaters want to be surfers, snowboarders want to be skaters, and new wave wants to be snowboarders 🤷‍♂️

If a 5050 is a boarder trick a soul grind is a blade trick?
I feel like a Snowboard 5050 and skis 5050 is two different trick idk

Depends, skiers do two kinds of 5050s, there’s the one footed ones which feels way more like a soul grind than the two footed ones

I'm pretty meh on most roller-blade style grinds, but you have a very good point about grabs. I feel like I haven't seen a proper Japan, bow & arrow, or truck driver in a long ass time...

I think I like his tricks and think he's a good skier, but his style seems so forced. A lot of people's style is kinda forced I guess, but his looks obviously so. No hate toward Toph, he seems like a great guy. I still like his uniqueness and think you can draw inspiration from it while disliking his style.

To be fair that’s kinda his thing, I personally like his clips and I think that he does a good job of exploring stuff which I appreciate

Most wizard tricks are ugly but broken grinds and some other straight slide variations can be cool. Problem with broken grinds is I’d feel like I’m gonna rip out an edge.

So I thought about this, I think it’s just because people never really get super good at them. Think of your first 2p2, did that look good? Probably not but after 400 attempts you probably got it looking pretty steezy. People mostly do those kind of tricks for the novelty and not because they are actually part of their bag of tricks, but I have definitely seen steezy wizard tricks. Broken grinds are sketch but if you can pistol squat and front slide well it makes it way easier to put less pressure into the foot that’s twisting

For real. When I first started watching TC I was blown away because I had never seen anything like it. The "pros", the redbull sponsored and competitors and shit never do that stuff. It's so epic.

I am praising nothing and hating on nothing but you pretty much just proved exactly the point I was tryna make. I wish MORE people would do experimental grinds and stuff and clean them up and get them dialed and stylish, it's crazy to me that only one guy ever has been known to do that kinda stuff. I was saying that I notice a lot of people try and incorporate more snowboarding into their skiing but not nearly as many people try to incorporate inline stuff even though fundamentally it makes way more sense. And not just inline, utilizing both skis in their tricks, doesn't even need to have insp from any other sport I just think there are a lot of progressive, techy, and gnarly things to do on skis but the majority seem to prefer adding another switchup instead of trying to excel at super uncommon tricks.

Also I already mentioned the 50-50 thing, I definitely prefer 1 footed 50-50s and think they could be incorperated in more techy stuff, that harold clip from the forre movie where he does a sw 1 to one footed 50-50 on some gnarly wooden down rail was pretty much exactly what the type of progression I was talking about, that clip got me hyped. Same with when Goepper used to do genie grab dubs, I've seen some modified daffy cork 3s that looked crazy, I feel like there's a lot of to progress the sport without doing quads

Yes, skiers now just want to be snowboarders in every degree but do not want to learn new things. This is crazy to me. You ski whole mountain but want to pretend to be snowboarders who are pretend to be skateboarders. And skateboarders are not the smartest or best people xaxa.

This is what happens when you grow up with 200ft of vert to ski on with 100% fake snow. Allen definitely pioneered a lot of shit for MN. Andy Parry from what I understand also grew up with not great skiing conditions and ended up focusing on rails to see what was possible basically. I explained that poorly but TLDR: Limited resources breed creativity
