Why not go strapless?

Why aren't strapless poles sold anymore? Like the old scott pistol grip ones. I found some at goodwill and have been looking for nicer ones in a better length

I love knuckle breakers so much. Bummed they are real hard to find these days. I used to swap my grips from pole to pole when they broke. Lost a pole and haven't been finding any at goodwill since.

According to some patroller I talked to a while back they could sometimes break some hand bones or something. It came up because my gf was rocking some poles like that from the 80s. Idk I still think they’re sick

I like my poles to fall off my hands and away from my body if I'm tumbling, least chance of impalement that way.

I rocked a pair like these for a few seasons. They were super nice cause they would stay on my hand if I opened it but would fly off if I crashed. Never had any issues with them breaking my thumbs more than any other pole

I never use straps. They just flap around or are balled up in my fists.

Leki all the way.

you buy them once, then when they break, I move the handles onto other poles with the same diameter.

leki has some nice gloves too, with the trigger integrated. Not a huge fan of the racer mitts, but they are warm

I always take the pole straps off. Way more downsides than benefits with them on imo. Only bummer is you can't windmill them party style.

i never use straps. hassle to get on and they can get caught on shit, and if i fall and they're on me they can wack around and stuff.

I got a pair of black with neon pink handles and baskets. Love them. Used to have a pair of carbon fibre ones but some fucknugget stole them from the employee room at copper

I use these without straps and they’re awesome! Obviously intended for backcountry, but buy them a little shorter or choke up on that big ol’ grip a little and you can still benefit inbounds for traversing and shit.

Pole straps of any kind while skiing inbounds are literally pointless, and can actually only cause problems. It amazes me they are still ubiquitous in the ski industry. Lose the straps folks.
