drop any bad experiences with brands/merchandise that you highly do not recommend.

First one are armada suspenders, shit lasted like 3 ski days and straps fell off. Arcade suspenders kill it for quality.

And a given but montec, looks dumb but jacket sucks so hard. Mentioned because I see it recommended around here.

tyrolia attack brakes, i get it theyre brakes and theyre doing their job but whenever i fuck up landing switch they bend really easily and I end up goin through at least 2 per season. maybe its just a skill issue tho

Mine have held for 2 seasons but I fell straight on the buckle once and it broke. Imo suspender lifetime depends on where you attach the buckles.

Reckoner 102s, crazy fun ski but mine exploded in like half a season and I didn’t even ride park after the first weekend (dislocated a shoulder). Separated the base from the ski underfoot and tips/tails where the sidewall goes to full cap on both skis by mid feb.

Yeah I had them break twice on me before I gave up on them. Both times it was the buckle. But the arcade suspenders are crazy nice, the buckle is super tough as well, and have lasted more than twice the amount of days as the armadas

I have a pair of the 112s too that I got for like 280 that I just have as a pow ski that hopefully will be okay if I only use them in soft snow.

Yeah I got a beater that I’ve been using as a rock/ early season ski.

gonna throw some frames and end it’s life probably this year. Super fun ski however, and kills it in pow but was still somewhat stable in choppier stuff

Seen a few reckoners get destroyed by rails after a relatively short time. Would probably avoid if that's what you'll be doing with them.

If you're old enough to be on this website you're probably too old for Squires lol. I had a lot of issues with the brakes while riding switch. Heard it's a common issue

This might be beating a dead horse but my saga pants barely lasted half a season before being riddled with rips in annoying areas like knee, crotch, etc.

Haha nah it was my beater pow ski. Never took it on rails, it’s fun but has that reckoner issue too.

replacing it with some bibbys I got for this year

what year saga? My pants and jackets from 2012 are still mint, but comparing it to my gfs saga that was more recent, the quality isn’t there

Any Head product I've used. Skis, boots, bags all cracked and started falling apart within days.
Their rental equipment has a great system that is intuitive to set up and good shapes for beginners though.

I had 2 pairs of Reckoner 102’s, easily some of the most fun skis I’ve ridden, but the first pair the tip snapped and the second the sidewall blew up. Good warrenty policy though ;)

Yeah they were great, they got me a full refund and the rep gave me a pro code as well so I was able to get 2 new skis (rec 112 and poachers). K2 has been great to me in terms of service.

Just recently had to sell mine, wish k2 could get their shit together and make this ski indestructible

my reckoners have not yet exploded but i have only skied them on boxes/rails for like 3 days and a lot of all mountain stuff the rest of the year

everyone whose skis exploded did you have the edges detuned? or was it more of a delam issue in the tips/tails?

Atomic's factory tune. They're a race company, I get it, but out of the box my Bent Chetler 120s had edges sharp enough to easily slice up my fingers while I was mounting them. If you get a new pair of Bents and don't plan on making a run at becoming the next FIS World Cup champ, detune them immediately.

Heavily detuned both pairs I had, not even a delam issues, it seriously was just the ski itself just giving out, the core, the sidewall. Also not shitting on the skis at all, cause I actually love them

Line skis. I had a pair of sick days maybe 4-5 years ago, decent skis but were thrashed after 4 days of skiing. Called line to see if something was wrong with them or if I could get a refund. Was told “they should look like you took a hammer to them around 3-5 days of skiing.” Haven’t bought anything from Line since.

Is the line hate here mostly referring to top sheet damage?

Because I’ve owned multiple pairs of line skis and tbh the only unusual problem early on is top sheet stuff. But never anything functional (sidewall / edge damage / delam) in 4-5 days of skiing.. that seems a little aggressive

After ten days of skiing the reckoners I delaminated the side wall, no skiing on rails, just jumps, butters, and one very backseat cliff landing that I rode away from. about 30 days on them and they delamed in several other places by the end of the season. fun ski but durability real bad, and several others I know delamed them in the same amount of time

Armada outerwear is overpriced af for what it is. My armada pants are like $300 msrp and were filled with holes after a few days, vents let air through when closed, pockets are too wide and let my phone turn sideways which was annoying. Zipper on my jacket sucks ass, the little pull tabs ripped off within a week.

I now use a generic $45 waterproof anorak and good god is it so much better as a shell. I get Jiberish and TallT put their branding on that shell.

They gave me a pair of the next years skis (2018) in feb 2017. Lasted another 50ish days of park skiing and then I got Vishnus and every remotely cambered park ski felt like shit so I pulled the bindings off and put them on some bump skis.

I've had hit or miss luck from binding freedom. Pulled out 3 inserts from just unscrewing the binding, but may have just been a poor mounting job. It was the only one I didn't mount myself.

Some who has rode several pairs told me they're the most fun skis he's ridden but they just shit the bed in terms of durability. For the record my poachers held up super well so idk what's going on at K2

I had the same Caddys and they lasted 4 days before the edges started to separate from the base and sidewall. Tried to get them warrantied and they said there was 'rail damage' and therefore the warranty was void. I hadn't hit any rails on the skis yet at that point. My head boots also developed a crack that spread from the toe buckle across the whole toe box. One of the power straps ripped in half and the pull up straps on the backs of the boots both ripped off.
A few years later I had a job managing a snow school and the head rep was suddenly interested in helping me out. I explained the prior situation. I was told they would hook me up with new skis and boots, but they completely flaked on that too.

now i'm on the fence because i see sick day 94's on evo for $325 and i'm torn if i should buy em or not.

I didn’t even try to hide that I’d hit rails on mine. Just said a rail had never made contact with the area the edge had started ripping out near the tail. Honestly you’ll find better warranty support with a smaller company. Treating customers like shit hurts small brands a lot more than it would hurt a company like Head or Volkl.

My first thought was reckoner 102 but looks like people beat me to it.

For me, I haven’t been too stoked on my Volcom pants. Had them for a few years but the zippers give me all sorts of problems. It’s extremely annoying. They get cut up more than my other pants too

I think its just a thing people on this site have heard and like to repeat. I see a lot of old line skis kicking around on the mountain and mine have always held up fine. But then again maybe quality control isn't great at such a large scale and I've just been lucky?
