JemsWell no shit it’s because of Honda but at this point he’s solidified himself as a good driver, but with a pretty weak temperament. At least he doesn’t get physical like Max and Lance have. To add on DR only has his seat because he’s marketable, but none of the less he’s still very solid. I guess i’m more bothered by the constant calls for Yuki to get dropped when DR can’t even convincingly beat him. Why not drop the 34 year old who was supposed to destroy yuki in the first place, or at least clearly outperform? I don’t see much time left for either of them sadly.
Because yuki is toxic and Daniel isn’t. Just that’s simple.
captainslackYou've also got to remember the amount of experience that Lewis brings to the team and to Charles. Charles' 1-lap pace is amazing, but he still lacks the race craft needed to get a WC. Having Lewis as a team mate will bring out the potential that Charles has.
I think it's a great move for Ferrari, above just the extra marketing & sponsorship income. Having one of the greatest of all time provide input into your car, team and No 1 driver will be incredible. Plus the draw you now have for engineers and personnel from other teams can't be ignored - I can see Ferrari being competitive in 2025, but being the No 1 team in 2026 wit the reg changes (especially if Newey leaves RB for Ferrari after this Horner/Jos power struggle)
Completely agree. Race wins vs liking Sainz is different. Leclerc is a world champion racer. Sainz is a heartthrob who we all enjoy because he's a nice guy. Not a world champion. One race does not dictate the season. I didn't expect much from this race, these teams have been there way too long to have anything out of the ordinary happen. Talk to me at Jeddah.

yeah, I noticed Leclerc championship form when Sainz passed him,,, twice
soupTo reiterate, one race does not dictate a season. Although last season was close, Leclerc has yet to be beaten by sainz in points. All that matters.
Do wins matter? cuz Carlos was the only guy besides Perez to take one from Max last season.

Obviously a win matters - it's 25 points and top step of the podium, but to be an F1 driver you've got to have the mindset that you are the best, and with the right car you can be World Champion. In 2025 and 2026 Ferrari should have a car that is capable of winning a WC, so they need someone who is reliable week in week out - not just a win here and there followed by no points. Charles makes very few mistakes - last season he was plagued by mechanicals, but every time his car worked he got decent points. That's what makes Lewis so dominant too, and in the past three seasons Max too. They never have an off weekend - and they're hyper aware about situations that could take them out of the points or even DNF - See Max last season backing away from Norris to overtake him later in the race to prevent a collision the early laps.
Sainz is an incredible driver but I don't think he has this week in week out mindset, or the ability to come back fighting from a bad race that is needed for a WC.

well, whatever that's your opinion, but Sainz got a win last season and Leclerc didn't . Sainz passed Leclerc twice in the latest race, those are facts and not an opinion.

It’s not an opinion. It’s a fact. One win doesn’t matter. Where you finish in the standings is all that matters. There is a simple reason sainz was let go. Charles out performs him. Simple as that.

Y’all arguing like they’re not almost equal in skill. Nobody’s faster than Charles but he crashes much more often than Carlos and has too much faith in the team. Carlos is slower than Charles but crashes less and is more likely to take strategy into his own hands while being often more consistent. Their damn near equal WDC records prove this, although Carlos struggled in 2022.

If they were actually equal, and Carlos had got 6 more points, Ferrari would have come 2nd in the constructors. Instead Merc got it and Ferrari got 3rd. In the final race Leclerc got 2nd, Sainz got DNF

Sainz' engine literally blew up in AB last year, this meant nothing.

Ok and Charles had 4 dnf. And still be sainz lol. There is no arguments. Sainz just isn’t as good. There’s a reason he was dropped. I think Ferrari know a tad more about the situation than you do.

Absolutely not. I’m a die hard McLaren fan through and through. Have been my entire life. Hate Ferrari. Alonso has been my driver for a long time. My family is from Spain.
Solid performance from rookie Bearman. Less then an hour of practice and then a full race on that high speed circuit? Well done.
I watched the race but forgot, what happend to Norris? Strategy mistake?
Costly mistake by Stroll.. AM needs the points and Alonso at 5th did his job..
What did you guys think of Haas tactics? I think they need to change the rules a bit. Kmag got 2x10 sec penalty, the 2nd should have been a drive through or something like that to prevent situations like this. He got two penalties but still got to keep of competitors so the Hulk could score a point..
Yuki performed, that car is still slow btw, and DR showed nothing really.. He needs to step up to even keep that seat..

It was a great drive from Bearman.
Mclaren decided to roll the dice and not to attempt to double stack under the safety car (same as Mercedes, with HAM) and risk Norris getting held up/an unsafe release penalty in the chaos of the pit, and left him out in the hope of extending in time for a second safety car in an opportunity to pit for softs from the medium, and not lose much track position with everyone else coming off the fading hards.
Stroll just doing Stroll things, still driving like he’s a rookie with his daddy’s job security. They really need to move him sideways into the WEC.
It’s a pretty big brain move from Haas regardless of whether it’s sporting or not. I’m not sure I agreed with the 10s for the off track overtake on TSU, should have been a simple give back the place. The squeezing of ALB deserved a penalty but not 10s, given ALB raced on largely unharmed, with just minor front wing damage
In the chaos of the safety car and the changing of the order up at the front, it went unnoticed that RB botched RICs pit stop, taking 40s. The unforced spin is pretty bad though and from the first couple of races, if PER can maintain his solid 2nd place driver form, there’s no chance RIC is moving up to RBR. All this assumes the RBR power struggle subsides and Marko and VER remain.

Quite harsh by the FIA to give kmag 20 sec of points for what I saw as aggressive driving, and Lando nothing for a false start. Bizarre rulings
I didn't realize RB botched a pit I was wondering what Riccardo was doing in the back the whole race. There are some great memes coming out of him I hope he is able to step up this year.
Bearman, fantastic. loved seeing a father smiling for once in the pit. Mercedes is slow but Maclaren was worse. Piastri not pulling of a pass of Hamilton is a tough sign it hurts seeing them starting seasons off so slow.
Anyone an alpine fan? Jesus. What a travesty of a car I guess Ocon pulled off a good drive but to see them on such a back foot is tough.
The harsh penalty for overtaking off track is something drivers have been asking for and it’s just been implemented new this season. There were a couple of instances of the new harsh penalties in F2 in the last 2 weeks.
I would say in this case magnusson had completed the vast majority of the pass before going off track and so didn’t deserve the full harsh penalty.
maybe the FIA wanted to set an example and this was just the first opportunity to do it.

Thanks for clarifying what happend with Norris.
AM: agree Stroll needs to go to WEC, soft exit.. They need the points..
Ric: also missed that pitstop, thanks. Unforced spin, Perez was coming close to lapping him ;) He needs to step up..

I do not agree with that, Kmag had zeo chance of making that corner, you have to take that into account..
Was watching drive to survive last night and damn does Lawrence Stroll make my skin crawl. I’m surprised he didn’t sacrifice his son to Moloch as an infant

Hamilton can't even get his car into Q3. Ditching Sainz for a 40 y.o. fading superstar will go down as just another horrible call in the comedy of errors this team has made in the last few years.

One of the dumbest things i’ve ever seen and it’s not even surprising because it’s Ferrari. The only reason they took Lewis is causeJohn Elkann likes him. Ferrari is gonna have the most insufferable and toxic fans on once Lewis arrives.

This looks doubly true this morning... exciting race though, finally.

Crazy race. Not sure if Charles was having issues, but Carlos’ race pace was gargantuan. Funny how well he bounced back while being literally 2 weeks post surgery. I feel like Carlos might’ve actually been able to hold off Max had he not had brake failure.

Wanted to see this for sure. That lunge on lap one was promising. With Perez race pace as evidence it may have been fun to watch even McLaren overtaking a slower red bull.

It’s hard to say whether it’s the Merc car or just Hamilton being washed.
If the Ferrari works for his driving style, which it currently isn’t set up for and likely won’t be when he joins next year as he won’t have been part of the development, I believe he’s got what it takes as a driver to win again in a Ferrari that can compete with Max. The move very much seems like Ferrari the car company making commercial decisions to the detriment to the Scuderia. I don’t see how Sainz doesn’t get a drive for next year.
Todays race could have been interesting if Max hadn’t DNF with his car not being as far ahead in terms of performance vs the Ferrari & McLaren. Suzuka could be interesting with Red Bull bringing an upgrade, supposedly taking them closer to the zero pod concept, can Newey make it work where Merc couldn’t?
I do think the current era of cars are the reason the racing isn’t as exciting as it could be. While they can run closer and the single lap pace has never been tighter, they’re just too big and heavy for the current circuits to get decent overtaking
I feel like the back marker teams are extra bad this year. Alpine have a tractor, Sauber can’t do a pit stop, Williams are taking their medicine due to a overhaul to get them up to standard, RB have driver issues. Haas seem like they’ve got things more together though since Steiner’s departure.

Carlos would have never even made the pass had max not had the issue. His rear right brake was locked on from the start. Let’s be real. It would have been a battle for second on back. That’s just the reality.

3maniahow many races will Carlos have to win before you realize he's better than Leclerc and a washed Hamilton ?
He’s not better than Charles and Hamilton hasn’t yet proven to be washed. What Carlos has proven so far is the he CAN beat Charles convincingly over a race weekend. Charles might have the overall pace advantage but Carlos is literally right there with him. Anyone who think either driver is clear of the other is delusional. I’m gonna keep proving my point that they’re just about as good as each other.

Sainz passes a guy who's "as good as each other" a lot.
I'm really eating my early season words about Sainz. He has really stepped up this year.
Anyone else watching F1TV stream notice the shots of Ricciardo after he crashed, in the garage with Lawson looming in the background? Feel for the badger this year.
- AM really should let Stroll leave to their Le Mans project. With a solid second driver that can get more points they could have beaten Mercedes this year.
- Alpine, its just impressive really.
- Ocon showed to be a douche again; he said during the race Gasly hit his sidepod while actually he ran into Gasly wich caused damage to his floor. Ocon should be punched in the face, I am so done with his lies and attitude.
- Alonso, well played and loved his quote after the reason.
- Why is the Stake team no longer capable of doing pitstops? This was never a problem. Its odd.
- Sainz almost on par points wise with Charles despite missing one of the four races.
- How long will Oliver Bearman hold on to his 12th position in the championship?
- Hamilton is done, good luck Ferrari, hope he is worth his marketing value.
- Ferrari actually having good strategy calls feels odd.
- Oscar sounds so chilled out on the radio.
Alonso signed a multi year contract with Aston Martin.
Good for him.
If he gets slower over time he can step in the WEC AM Valkyrie project and try to win Le Mans again.
Next up: convince Lance to stop F1 and get in that WEC project early. The F1 team can use the points and a new driver needs time to get familiar with everything. It would make sense if Lance stops after this season.
