Are Pivots on vishnus worth it?

just ordered some vishnu wide plus for the upcoming season, i got griffon bindings but i heard that pivots help maintain the natural flex point of the ski and are better for vishnus. Just wondering if it will actually make a different and be worth it to get pivots or should i just mount my griffons.

If I remember correctly, pivots have a shorter like baseplate than most bindings, so there's more of the ski in front of it to flex.

Pivots are nice, but to me only worth it if you have a good deal or just money lying around. If you already have griffons I would mount those, I don't think the difference will be noticeable.

Are you trying to start a rumor on a burner account? Where you mount the bindings matters a lot more for the flex point than the bindings themselves. The difference in binding mount patterns for flex is negligible imo

i just heard that since pivots have less surface area that actually mount to the ski it helps when the ski flex where as the griffons are larger on the ski and when consitent flex happens from buttering every where that the screws will eventually loosen and the binding will eventually snap off

tbh bindings don’t matter in one fucking bit and people make too much a big deal about them. i’ve used both pivots and griffons and honestly enjoyed the griffs more.

I like Pivots for the heel, I feel like its helped save my knees a few times.

they won’t make you a better skier, but you will be very core

The mount plate of markers extends further back than pivots which means the ski starts flexing further back with markers. The way pivots anchor the heel also supposedly lets the ski flex more under foot. From experience riding two identical pairs of skis, one with jesters and the other with pivots, I did notice a small difference in flex of the tail. Won't make you a better skier and some people may even want a stiffer tail on vishnus so +1 for just running the Griffons.

I use pivots on most of my skis simply because they last a long ass time. I've had issues with the base plates on markers not holding up at all, and the toe wings shredding my boots, though griffins have plastic toe wings so that shouldn't be an issue.

Yes look advertises that. If it’s true - I couldn’t say. Some even say it makes pivots more prone to rip outs. I do like pivots the best of bindings I have ridden but I do not usually think they are worth the price.

I don’t like griffons as I have felt a lot of slop in the toe in the past. However, it might be gone with the new toes. My suggestion: if the griffons were working fine, continue with those

Pivots saved my knee last season. Tip went into the snow as I was falling off a rail and the lateral movement popped my MCL. If not for the pivot heelpiece allowing my foot to rotate out of the binding it'd have 100% taken my ACL too

I've been told a similar thing but I really doubt that anyone could possibly notice a difference. I've skied on multiple Vishnu's with pivots and one pair with jesters. Did not notice a difference in regard to flex. Pivots have pros and cons but I don't think they make a significant difference in regard to flex

If you don't get pivots you won't ever feel the heel piece go up your ass. you would be missing out.

Lmao, this. Such a niche ski yet every kid wants them. I mean I kinda got looped into it, and fuck I regret not having a more versatile ski, cause my dumb ass sold my armadas for a pack of cigarettes.

I always thought the main draw towards riding Pivots was the turntable heel piece? So u don’t twist your knee opposite your ankle if you land halfway during a spin

you're 1) asking if it's worth upgrading to pivots when you have griffons already on hand and 2) specifically mentioning the part about pivots' mounting pattern helping the ski flex more naturally

answer to 1) it's up to you, pivots are the gold standard for a reason but they're pricey. if you have perfectly good bindings already, they'll 100% be fine. 100%

answer to 2) is yeah, Look specifically markets/advertises/claims that the mount pattern of pivots helps the ski flex more naturally, so idk why people are acting like you pulled that idea out of your ass. however, unless you got no money concerns at all, upgrading to pivots just for that is kinda stupid

TL;DR: NS is on their period in this thread, pivots are dope but your bindings are fine, use them unless you dgaf about money and want to upgrade to pivots

like sort of-but with the new toe design the heel has a short mount pint but the toes is long asf

i'd do B95s yeah. consensus on this site is that B95 fits up to about 108 waist or so before you're talking significant bending

i got pivots only to flex on kids. ofc i got the gold ones.

i had to get bindings and when i found pivots for less than griffons i for sure got pivots.

i already have several pairs of attacks and i must say there are some things that i really dislike.

Until you just shatter any part of Griffs or attacks. Over the past couple years I’ve seen brakes explode on both and I’ve seen the toe of an attack rip off the baseplate of the binding (lovely plastic construction). Pivot brakes will bend to hell but at least they don’t rip out of the plastic and fuck up the way your boot sits in the binding. And I’ve never seen a pivot toe get broken. I’ve only seen snapping a heel ring on pivots that are like 7 years old, cheap fix


I’ll just never trust other bindings and I don’t think anyone else should either even if you’re just str8 sliding rails or going the hardest in the park.

so if i got pivots, yall think i could get away with 18 gws. i want the purple ones and they only have them left in 18 lmao. but heres the thing im 6’3 200 hopefully wanting to get up to 220 this bulking season

They will be fine as long as you want them above Din 8 and less than 18.

What's your DIN? If it's in it's in. At 6'3" 200 you very well may be an 8 or higher. Use an online din calculator to get a good estimate

usually a low 9 i just dont want to risk running to low din on the binding i heard it can fuck it up as they truly are meant to
run middle range. is it worth the risk for the colour way?

Yeah you're def fine then. That's a myth that the ends of the range shouldn't be used, you're all good man

Hey man, it depends on you. We need some info like your weight, and din settings.

Personally I’m around a 10 din, and weigh 200. Griffons are a bit too plasticy for my liking, but I love my jesters which is a beefier griffin. I also love pivots, from the metal construction.

These bindings are big names for a reason, and they will do what a binding needs to be done. I like the feel of pivots so I go with them now, but I wouldn’t pass on a ski because of the bindings, unless it’s a squire or pivot 12 or something low.
